Building Relationship with LOVE

This is an interesting entry by Jon. Not sure if its God's timing but it happens after Jon had a heated arguement with a Sister in church... Seriously she is God-damned rediculous and he does not feel like seeing her again ever...

This particular day, Jon even seek consul from one of his mentor - to seek third party advise. That evening, he found this message in his face...

BBG (Business Breakthrough Group) meeting of City Harvest Church at NTUC Building at 1 Marina, on October 2, 2008. 7.30pm
Speaker: Ps. Meng (choongtm@pacific.net.sg)

Bible verses:

Read Psalm 23 especially verse 6:
"Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever."

Psalm 107:9:
"for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things."

Jeremiah 31:25
"I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint."

3 John 1:2
"as your soul prosper, so are you as a whole. Be prosperous in your walk with Christ."

These are 7 Spiritual needs for us in BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS:
Spirituality
Love
Self-esteem
Knowledge
Security
Freedom
Aesthetic

On this occasion Ps. Meng, focus on building relationships particularly with LOVE.

The thing about love is that it requires you to work it out with one another. There are 10 criteria for a successful relationships:
  1. Speak a little less, listen a little more. Just like some ancient Greek philosopher wisely mentioned, we are created to have 2 ears and 1 mouth; meaning, you should listen double than you speak. Apart from that, listen with interest for example watch the body language of the speaker as you listen.
  2. Which is more important? Being right or maintaining harmony? If your answer is “being right” it means that you are maintaining your personal pride. Maintaining harmony is the answer as you are able to back down. Let people made their mistake, as they may learn from their mistakes. Do not force feed your opinion. No matter how right you are. Do not gloat, but readily offer a helping hand when they are in trouble due to their mistake.
  3. You must know when to keep silent.
  4. Avoid gossip
  5. Forgiveness
  6. The right motive.
  7. Must have one-ness. Do not harbor jealousy and be considerate toward one another. You can’t reach people’s heart if you’re being too straightforward. Learn to paraphrase your wordings. You would want to be treated as how you treat others.
  8. Inject humor in your relationship. Learn to enjoy one another. Be able to laugh at yourself.
  9. Work to improve your relationship, not over analyze it.
  10. Learn to have concern and detachment. Showing concern is okay but don’t be clingy as sometimes we forgot to detached our lives away from the others for them to lead their own lives.

Remember a good friendship is able to offer goodwill.

Frankly after that evening, one of the struggles that Jon faces each day is point Number 2 - Being Right or Maintaining Harmony. Seriously, this is a struggle for many Christians as they try to juggle right living with God and disciplining others. It takes righteousness to correct oneself and it takes humility to maintain harmony... Only Jesus can achieve both.

My Financial Views II

This is an email exchange between Brother Albert and Jon...

As usual our Big Brother Albert has adopted a more balanced approach in this topic but Jon felt that he should stand his ground to speak the truth for God...

It's true that there are a lot of grey areas in life and there are no real "rights" or "wrongs" in certain topics, but as long as we pressed on for the truth, there is nothing for us to worry about when the day comes to be accounted for.

Anyway here's the emails:

Hi Guys,

Frankly I did not really research much on investments and related topics. In fact the closest I did was to buy some AIA funds using my CPF money when the government first open up the door for investments and I convert it back to $$$ to pay off my house down payment. It was a $20,000 investment and I managed to make around $2,000 after several years of “parking” the money there… Can I call myself a “proven investor” now?

Anyway my philosophy is always asking myself “biblical logics” on everything that I stumbled on… from gay/lesbian staff to what “NEW ISRAEL” is in the End Times and now the recent financial crisis. In fact I have recently watched Schindler’s List and Hitler-The rise of the Evil and I am currently pondering on his Holocaust idea… dun worry I am not thinking of killing people… just wondering how a man could mislead a nation into doing something so insane, yet they do not realize its wrong and they are still so proud of it.

So can you imagine the same kind of persuasion on other things that do not involve killing people? I think we can name anything under the sun and anyone can easily mislead someone.

So continuing with this financial topic and how many of us are misled by what we are doing… here’s a recent news article about the protests in HK over the Lehman issue, please read this piece of news as I find it very interesting:
http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSPEK7193220080921?feedType=RSS&feedName=topNews&pageNumber=1&virtualBrandChannel=0

Here’s a few extracts that I want to highlight:

The protesters, many of them elderly retirees, accused the government of failing to provide proper oversight and said local banks did not do enough to warn of them of the risks involved.

"They were misleading investors on the risk. They said the minibonds were highly stable," said W.H. Chiu, a 66-year-old retiree.

An advertisement issued by a unit of Sun Hung Kai & Co Ltd touted the product as "a strong collection letting you invest with peace of mind", while noting in fine print that the notes involved "a high degree of risk".

Please take a second look at the above underlined, is it familiar to some of us? If this is not biblical (in misleading people) I really do not know what is… How many people look at the “fine prints” when they are doing their so-call speculation/investments? Based on my entire life experiences, I always hear people telling myself and others that this is stable, that is safe and things are fine… But none of them will tell you the fine print behind. To our surprise these so call “fine prints” are usually the ones that are most important. Point is, many people always based their BIBLICAL KNOWLEDGE on the worldly visible prints rather than the important fine truth…

Like I said before, you will not see the light until darkness come… and sorry, I am now enjoying shining light on the fine prints in the dark right now. Please do not judge me as I am only boasting about the biblical truth.

Like I point out on Friday CG, these are some verses that are so relevant that I think everyone of us can hold on to in whatever financial/business situations you are about to do:

Proverbs 20:23 “The LORD detests differing weights, and dishonest scales do not please him.”

Proverbs 11:1 “The LORD abhors dishonest scales, but accurate weights are his delight.”

Hope its enough to open up some of our mind… Anyway guys please do not get me wrong. I am not saying that it’s not biblical to speculate/invest… me for one would go to have some fun in casinos if I have a chance to go Genting, Macau or even Las Vegas. In fact I am waiting to check out our local casinos too… My intention is very simple. To identify and draw a line between plain harmless gambling fun from Biblical Truths. Also it’s important that we do not try to justify our pure harmless gambling fun by “spiritualising” it…

Okay, that’s all for my Sunday musing. I would like to sign off with this:

Proverbs 20:15 “Gold there is, rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel.”

Hi,

Any arguments can be skewed. Such is the topic on investments. So let me try to add some balance to it.

So in perspective. The whole economy is based on what we call "Unfair scale". Unless we understand this system, we will be rob by the lack of knowledge. The issue of AIG is a lesson that only our God is the true security. By no means that we should avoid exercising common sense. In live, anything can be gamble. In business can be gamble. In marriage, can be gamble IF we do not make risk assessments criterias.

In investment/business, we should never use what we can't afford , that is risk money. In Godly stewardship we are called to do what we know best in terms of management of His in our stewardship. In any case, It is not encourage to jump in to financial instruments. Namely stocks, forex, options, bonds, funds w/o due diligence. This area need knowlege and proper money management skills. It takes many hours of discipline and never a stroke of luck or what so ever for those who succeed. And it is true that market is down, wealth is not created nor destroyed. It is simply TRANSFERRED. This is system we live in, with the introduction of fiat currency and departure from gold standards. We are "robbed" since day one we were born. And ppl do make lots of money when it is down. And they legally "ROB YOU" in terms of inflations, investments draw downs etc. (e.g Oei guy makes millions and wealth is transferred)

Now think about this, those ppl, fund managers, gambled our money. If they have in mind our interest, it would not have been like this today. And you never know , in case we put faith in our CPF money, may one day go to smoke. Nothing is for certain. And our bank currencies may come to nothing. Cos they are nothing as theyare digits and numbers. Think about it.Lets put faith in God, what we can't change He will in due time. Mean time, be a good steward and not be lazy nor ignorant, in how we use our dime, time and resources. Hope this present a balanced view ont his topic.

God bless,
Albert

My Financial Views

Recently Jon has a few email correspondents with some people, and think its good that we journal it up for others to take a look and share their views...

From: jon@stxch.com
Subject: Wake Up Call

Indeed it's a wakeup call for everyone in financial sector. All these happen as PANIC grips the credit markets in the world financial sectors. Even conservative financial organization such as insurance giant AIG is not spared...

I remembered people always argued with me regarding speculations/investments been safe and secure as long as they are "smart in STUDYING market trends". Some even argued that they can make good speculations/investments even if market goes down. Worse of all people would go for so-called "guaranteed profits" by doing "shorts" without coming out cash at all. I really hope that these so call Christian speculators/investors, who insist that all these are “NOT GAMBLING” can reap profits through these turmoil.

Here's the report that some might want to read: http://sg.news.yahoo.com/afp/20080919/tts-us-finance-banking-972e412.html

Here's an extract:

A move by British market regulators to ban short-selling -- a technique that profits from falling share prices -- lifted hopes that other markets may follow.

In the US, new rules aimed at curbing speculative "naked short" sales that aim to profit from falling share prices took effect as a probe was launched into market manipulation.

New York state attorney general Andrew Cuomo announced a probe into illegal short-selling practices that may have hurt finance firms including Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley.
Cuomo said that short-selling itself is legal but that "what is illegal is if you are spreading false information, rumors, and you join a conspiracy to purposely drive down the price of a stock, and you are profiting from the decline," he said in an interview with CNN.

Cuomo said the manipulation of the price of a stock with false information is securities fraud.
"Companies like Lehman, companies like Morgan Stanley, companies like Goldman Sachs who are seeing the rapid (share) declines, we have complaints that there are episodes of illegal short-selling, and that is what we are investigating."

For those who claimed that all these are not unbiblical as it is not written in the bible...please think again... Here’s what the bible says:

Matthew 16:26What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?

Romans 12:2: Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

1 Corinthians 1:20Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

Revelation 18:23The light of a lamp will never shine in you again. The voice of bridegroom and bride will never be heard in you again. Your merchants were the world's great men. By your magic spell all the nations were led astray.

Anyway as in Revelation 18:23, “Your merchants were the world’s great men”... the collapse of these worldwide companies are exactly managed by the world smartest people playing top CEOs in these well known organizations. It's sad to see all these financial problems but I thank God for the financial shaking so that our people are awoken from this "false dream" of financial stability based on massive borrowing and debts. Now let's continue to see how many more companies need bailing out...

Back to speculations/investments-is-not-gambling topic. Let me say at least in casino people "gamble" with their cash on hand and they would stop when their cash runs out. The bankers do not play unless your bets are on the table. At least people would not lose more than they have... So which is worse? Gamblers or Speculators/Investors? My answer is they are both the same. Money make Money or Money lose money. Bible teaches us that it's our hard labour that should produce fruits, nothing else.

As usual, I hereby continue to claim that the financial world is the darkest place of all because of all kinds of unbiblical "credit dealings" going on in the financial marketplace. May God continue to open those eyes of people who refuse to acknowledge that...

May God also protect our Christian brothers/sisters working in banks and asset/fund management companies that they can receive deliverance through His mighty hands.
Also lastly may God protect our government, local banks and financial institutions that we remain stability and well managed. (By the way Temasek seems to make some $$$ after the bailing out of Merril by Bank of America ... so that’s good news for Singapore.)

Jon life as at July 2008

It has been a long time since Jon last posted. In fact it is more than 1.5 year!!!

Time really flies. This is the time that Jon wished it could fly faster as he realized that a lot of people were reading his posts and secretly drawing up prejudging mental image about Jon. Sceptics and pretenders were among those who were quick to draw a line from him as they continued to live in their disbelief.

So now that everyone seemed to focus their eyes elsewhere, Jon starts to breath freedom again. Free to speak, free to express and free to critic without finding offence knocking at his doors.

Jon feels that writing and keeping a journal is important. You never know one day you might lose some parts of your memory. It could be due to too much distractions. It could due to too much going-ons in life. It could be that you are chasing future and ignoring past. So journal helps to bring back the good old time, even though some were setbacks in life, it does not matter now. Life is full of learning curves. You are never a loser, only concern is not living out the abundance that God has in stored for you.

However before Jon begins, here are some highlights in Jon's life that God blesses him during his "absence". These are some important moments in his life and shall not be forgotten. (Well, he will continue to update this list whenever he remembers something...)

1. Kissed singlehood goodbye in 24/12/2006.
2. Wed the love of his life, Anne in 07/07/07.
3. Bought his first property, 4-Room HDB at Boon Tiong Road in February 2007
4. Property boom means HDB of $300,000 raised to $500,000+ in valuation (Praise The Lord)
5. Bought his first car in January 2008, Red Mitsubitsu Coltplus
6. Own a semi-full fledge photography studio at Hamilton Road
7. Hired 4 staffs in the company, They are Eden, Lena, Michelle and Finn.
8. Forming BLM CG with Chandra, David & Sandy
9. Organized and celebrated first Christmas celebrations at our home
10. Joining Tag United in Hope Soccer League
11. Helped secure 4th position in Hope Soccer League, advance to Semi-Final, facing FC2024
12. Attended New Creation Church and are so blessed and so "unlocked" by Pastor Prince's insights of the WORD OF GOD
13. Buy back the company share from Seowliang
14. Gaining wisdom bit by bit as the anointed oil starts following through his life.

That's it for now... will come back here again to extend this wonderful lists.

May Grace and Mercy continue to follow Jon as he seeks God fervently. =)

Sex & The City

Its been a while since i posted, anyway here's something i wrote to my CG which I think its interesting:

This morning when I turned on the TV, Channel NewsAsia was showing the preview of “Little Children” staring Oscar nominee Kate Winslet. In the movie, someone asked her, “Why do you commit affair?” She replied, “I don’t. It’s hunger. Hunger to live differently. Hunger to live out unhappiness.”

This movie generally talked about this lady committing affairs because of unhappy marriage. Yesterday someone was telling me the story of Potiphar been incompetent, thus leading the wife yearning for someone else to satisfy her physical needs.

Well, one would feel sorry for these people… anyway this morning I was somehow awoken up before my alarm ring to read this verse which was raised during our guys-secret-discussion last night. Ok ok, what else but Sex and The City… ha ha!

Mathew 5:27-30 (from biblegateway.com)
27"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.'[e] 28But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

Here’s the simple explanation from my application bible in The Message version.

The OT Law said that it is wrong for a person to have sex with someone other than his or her spouse. But Jesus said that the DESIRE to have sex with someone other than your spouse is mental adultery and thus SIN. Jesus emphasized that if the act is wrong, then so it is the INTENTION. To be faithful to your spouse with your body but not your mind is to break the trust so vital to a STRONG MARRIAGE. Thus is condemning not natural interest in the opposite sex or one healthy sexual desire but the deliberate and repeated filling of one’s mind with fantasies that would be evil if acted out.

The implications:
It causes people to excuse rather than to stop sinning.
It destroys marriages.
It is deliberate rebellion against God’s Word.
It always hurt someone else in addition to the sinner.

Note:
Sinful actions are more dangerous than sinful desires, and that it is why desires should not be acted out. Nevertheless sinful desires are just as damaging to obedience, left unchecked, wrong desires will result in wrong action and turn people away from God.

Question:
Anyone ever pondered why Jesus, although figuratively, mentioned about the eye and the hand? Why not ear or leg? Guess it’s a very simple answer to squashed away arguments to other areas that people sometimes committed other than sex outside marriage. Eye satisfies your mind, hand satisfies body right?

One brother gave a very good valid suggestion. To make a vow to God and seeing it been fulfilled. I must agree it is better to experience the pain of REMOVAL (getting rid of bad habits or something (sin) we treasure) than to allow it to bring judgement and condemnation.

May God bless your HOLY weekend!

BREEZE

Someday I would like to be a breeze. Just the name itself sounds so cool. No emotions, no problems, no worries, no pain, just BREEZE.

Today I feel like flying to the sky, with a “snap” I will carry myself up with a leap.

Tomorrow I feel like going down under, with a “plunge” I will dive low with a dip.

Maybe I can dash through the fence. Maybe I will squeeze through the whole in the rock. Maybe I would wet myself in the middle of a storm. Maybe I can sail through the heat in the desert. No matter what I go through, I know I am always cool like a breeze.

I can kiss those I love on their heads. I can smack those I dislike on their cheeks. I can embrace their faces to freshen them up. I can flip through their hair to mess them up.

I could die down anytime, I could re-appear with a slight blow. I know I am full of freedom. I am always filled with great delight.

Somehow everybody loves breeze. You can be the fiercest person on earth. You can have the coldest look. You can be the most unfriendly. Maybe you are the most snobbish of all. However I know I could always bring out a smile in that pretentious shell.

Breeze oh breeze, how I adore you. If life is like a breeze, then wouldn’t it be a great joy…

HELPLESS

Sometimes we would find something in life vanishing despite how careful we are.

A lot of things happened around us as lessons for us to learn, but we simply miss them.

Everyday there are people who have kidney failures despite how healthy they are.

Everyday lives are lost despite how careful they are.

Everyday accidents happen no matter how much safety precautions we take.

Everyday wallets are lost despite how secure we are.

Everyday people fell in love regardless how they avoid.

Everyday people divorcé despite how much counseling they went through.

It does not matter if you are very spiritual or gifted, or whether you are a great prophet, when the crisis decides to strike you, you could not prevent it.

For Jon, he just lost his sentimental Braun Buffel wallet. Along with it are cash ($250), NRIC, Driving License, Ezlink Card, Whizzcar member card, Office Access card, Name Cards, POSB Debit Master Card, UOB ATM Card, Hope Church member card & some receipts for claims.

Though all the above can be replaced some how, but the most painful ordeal is the process of replacing them. More money would be spent. More time would be lost. Sentiments would diminish too. What a way to end the old and start anew.

Some how only God knows why some things happen. Some things have to go and be forgotten. Some things have to change. Some things have to evolve. Some things we have to throw. Some things we have to plan ahead. And some things have to be freshened up.

Henceforth we just have to admit that sometimes we can be very helpless in life. So why take life so seriously? Why so bothered about what is fair and what is not? Why so calculative about things in life? Why control your life so much that you can’t breathe?

Take a step back and look at life. Give yourself a break.

A World Of Misunderstanding

It’s time to realize that we are all living in a world of misunderstandings. It doesn’t matter how educated you are to understand the reasons to misunderstandings, the fact that you know more about it only leads you faster to assume certain things based on your knowledge. To some people, misunderstanding can be a basis of a happy life in their ideal world because it’s the easiest way to allow them to see the way things they want.

A simple lunch appointment could be viewed as an evaluation for future dates; a simple dinner outing could be a consent for a romping night’s out. A simple remark could be viewed as a personal attack; a casual joke could be a form of condemnation. A simple smile could be viewed as an expression of interest; a caring word could be a signal of love. A phone call could be viewed as a check on one’s personal life; a home visit could be an intrusion of one’s lifestyle. An enlighten philosophy could be viewed as an affirmation of their beliefs; a bible verse could be a confirmation of their holiness.

Some people really enjoyed this world of misunderstanding, as their lives are as monotonous as the stray cats down the backstreets. They slept wherever is warm, they mated whoever they click, they moaned whenever they like it, they fought as their moods guide, they licked whoever feed them and they ate whatever people feed.

Probably as Jon is writing this someone out there is assuming that Jon hates cats. But the truth is though Jon dislikes cats but he didn’t purposely select cats as an expression of people who love to misunderstand. Frankly, there are just no other animals that best make the match…

Now that we understand the nature of cats, are you still bothered by how you could sometimes be misunderstood? Does it really matter if you could clarify misunderstanding when no one has any idea how to tame a cat? Do you really need to procrastinate how to prevent the next misunderstanding when you are never sure when the next cat decides to cross your path? If serpents are going to lead you to HELL, then cats are going to prevent you from making true friendships on earth. To make matter worse cute cats are the most dangerous of all as people are least defensive against such loveable creatures. Their soft sweet voice and their demure petite body could easily deceive our naked eyes. With cats around, how could we not live in a world of misunderstandings…

Take a break!

Its been a long break since Jon last post.

In life, we all need a break. Some say resting is a form of preparation for the journey ahead, but Jon says resting is a form of avoiding SELF...

We rest so that we could pull out of the current situation to view things in a different perspective.

We rest so that we could wait for the dust to settle down in order to see clearly.

We rest so that some nuisance would fade away.

We rest so that the fire of passion would cool down.

We rest so that silence can be heard gently.

We rest so that no one is looking at us.

We rest so that we can re-focus again.

We rest so that we can be insignificant once more.

We rest so that we can be weak.

We rest so that we could submit.

Many forms of resting, many types of breaks. The best of it all is to wait for God to LEAD.

May God rest us, mould us and use us in His ultimate Glory!

Amen.

Let's Be A People's Person

Attended "Be A People Person" in the workshop during our recent church camp. The instructor mentioned about the five languages of love which Jon thought it is very interesting. In fact our lives with each other could be better if we could understand each other better. Chinese there is a saying, "Zhi ji zhi bi, bai zan bai sheng". It means winning battles if you could read your enemy well. Well, think we should apply that in "winning" friendships too!

Anyway this is the link to the test:

http://www.youthnetsouthampton.org.uk/breakout/lovelanguages.php

Here's Jon's results:

The Five Love Languages

My primary love language is probably
Acts of Service
with a secondary love language being
Quality Time.

Complete set of results

Acts of Service: 10
Quality Time: 9
Words of Affirmation: 7
Physical Touch: 4
Receiving Gifts: 0

Information

Unhappiness in relationships, according to Dr. Gary Chapman, is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages. Sometimes we don't understand our partner's requirements, or even our own. We all have a "love tank" that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.

Take the quiz

So you guys better know what to do with Jon from now on!

Cheers!

Oh Judas...

It has been more than 1 month already as Jon pondered on his next entry; A follow up on Judas - a character if controversy.

It seems like we are having a good time examining about this chap. In fact, after Jon's previous post about "Poor Judas", Jon received a couple of feedbacks. Many claimed that Gospel Of Judas is a Gnostic Gospel, it lacks credibility. No doubt about it, the Gospel Of Judas is full of controversy. However no one seems to understand Jon's point of view. Jon is not bothered who wrote the Gospel Of Judas, but rather, Jon is more interested in finding out the role Judas is playing more than 2,000 years ago...… Was Judas a villain heading to hell or was he a stroke of genius by God in fulfilling the great "Resurrection" of Christ?

Looking at Jon's last post, many would have seen that Jon had established some facts stated in the bible to "redeem" Judas' name. It really has nothing to do with what the Gospel of Judas had written. The gospel only triggered Jon's interest to examine the role of Judas in further details. After going through several feedbacks and other's comments about Judas, Jon has an urge to "charge" Judas guilty for his villain act too:

This is what Jon has examined:

Mathew's account really catches Jon's eye. In fact Mathew was the only disciple who really criticized Judas heavily as a "Betrayer" and Mathew alone recorded the exact amount of money Judas accepted to betray Jesus - 30 silver coins, the price of a slave (Exodus 21:32).

Though as mentioned in Jon's previous post, many actions prior to the capture were to fulfill what was prophesized, but the prophecy did not mention anything about any specific betrayer. In fact the religious leaders had all along planned to wait until after the Passover to take Jesus, but Judas had offered to betray his master. That had accelerated their plans.

Now, let's examine the actual reasons why would Judas want to betray Jesus? Was Judas really part of God's plans or it was purely based on GREED? If you understand more of the scriptures, it actually explained to us that it was all about man's greed that prompted Judas action. Read Mark 10:35 about "The Request of James and John":

After Jesus had predicted his death earlier, Mark recorded that John and James went to Jesus with their request. James and John wanted honored places in Jesus' Kingdom. The disciples, like most Jews of that day, had the wrong idea of the Messiah's Kingdom as predicted by the OT prophets. They thought Jesus would establish an earthly Kingdom that would free Israel from Rome's oppression, and James and John wanted honored places in it. But Jesus' Kingdom is not of this world; it is not centered in palaces and thrones but in the hearts and lives of his followers. The disciples did not understand this. In fact bible stated in Mark 10:41 that when the other ten disciples discovered what James and John had asked, they were indignant - meaning angered at something unjust!

Irving's comment was spot on: If we looked at Judas, as a Treasurer, he certainly assumed that he would be given an important position in Jesus's "Kingdom". But when Jesus praised Mary for pouring out perfume worth a year's salary, Judas may have realized that Jesus' Kingdom was not physical but spiritual when Jesus mentioned about his "burial". Judas' greedy desire for money and status could not be realized if he continued to follow Jesus. Satan was able to exploit on Judas main weakness and used him to betray Jesus in exchange for money.

So as we see from here, there is "SIN" at play in Judas heart. Though the bible claimed that Judas later regretted over his action, his following action (suicide) did not "redeem" himself. He had forgotten what Jesus said in Mathew 26:31 & 32: "Tonight all of you will desert me." ... "But after I have been raised from the dead, I will go ahead of you to Galilee and meet you there." So by committing suicide, Judas did not really obeyed Jesus' instruction even though Jesus had already assured all his disciples earlier in Mathew 26: 28: "for this is my blood, which seals the covenant between God and His people. It is poured out to forgive the sins of many in my Father "Kingdom". As such, Judas missed out on the Great Commission!

At this point, Jon could not really judge Judas if he should be burned in hell. However we all knew that though we were all redeemed by the blood of Jesus, our calling is to fulfill the great commission. Revelation 20:11-15 about "The Final Judgement" sums up all!

"11And I saw a great white throne, and I saw the one who was sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide. 12I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God's throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead was judged according to the things written in the books, according to what they had done.13The sea gave up the dead in it, and the death and the grave gave up the dead in them. They were all judged according to their deeds. 14And death and grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death - the lake of fire. 15And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book Of Life was thrown into the lake of fire."

Poor Judas

Jon met a brother in Christ earlier and we mentioned about The Gospels Of Judas which was screened on National Geographic last sunday and Jon has watched it. However to Jon's surprised, this brother whom Jon was speaking to said that he felf "disturbed" as he had read some articles about Judas' Gospels from the newspaper. He cautioned Jon not to be swayed by his "Gospels". Jon was a little confused. In fact this brother is not the first person who finds this Gospels worrying, there was another sister who also told Jon that this Gospels Of Judas is confusing to the Christians. As for Jon, there is nothing to be confused about at all. Read on...

In fact Jon feels that this documentary is really interesting. Before this Jon only knew about Judas as the betrayer who sold "Jesus" to the Roman soldiers who later hung himself. To Jon Judas was a bad guy. However Jon didnt realise there is the other side of Judas' story. In fact, no one in the church ever spoke about it too. Last Sunday Judas' story finally unfold to Jon.

As it is in the Gospel of Judas, it claimed that God was the one that prompted Judas to the betrayer act. Some people would laugh at this claim, but why not? If everything in life was planned by God, how come Judas' betrayer is not part of the plans as well?

If we look at Luke 22:3, it says that Satan entered Judas to perform the great "betrayer act". As we all know, Satan is also at God's command. Jesus had went on to mention in Matthew 26:53-54 "Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more that twelve legions of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?"

Isn't it clear in the bible if you read the 4 Gospels in the New Testaments that Jesus knew all along about the whole betrayer act enroute to His capture? In fact, the "betrayer act" was so well planned that the disciples do not know who is the special person "entrusted" with this "important-dirty" task that Jesus mentioned in Mark 14:21b, "It would be better for him if he had not been born." Judas was entrusted with this special calling the day he was borned. Besides finding the betrayer for this "betrayer act", God has also went into the details of Judas' famous kiss on Jesus cheek, preparing the two swords (Luke 22: 37-38) so that someone would cut the ear of the servant of the high priest (note that its not any Roman soldiers), Jesus healing the servant's ear, Peter's denial (3 times), the debate before Pilate and Herod, the exchange of prisoner Barabbas and the final act of the Crucifixion.

Doesn't all the above mentioned pointed that God was the ultimate planner of this great "Redemption Act"- which is to resurrect His Son in the eyes of the world, for our salvation? Henceforthe, why are people still calling Judas a betrayer and look down upon him? In Jon's humble opinion, Judas is one of the most noble man who has sacrificed himself to perform such a heartbreaking act. Ask yourself if your master could show you how to feed five thousand with five loaves of bread and 2 fishes (Mark 6:38), would you betray him with thirty silver coins? For those who are pondering how much are we comparing, we are talking about eight months of a man's wage (Mark 6:37b) against that tiny thirty silver coins...

Lastly Book of John sums it all. John 13:18, "I am not refering to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the scripture: 'He who shares my bread has lifted up his heel against me.' (Psalm 41:9)" In fact it was also Jesus who gave the signal for Satan to act on Judas in John 13:27, "As soon as Judas took the bread (from Jesus), Satan entered into him. 'What you are about to do, do quickly,' Jesus told Judas"

Henceforth looking at all those things that had unfold in the bible, isnt it clear that Judas' "act of betrayer" was part of God's great plan. If this is the case, shouldn't we glorify this unselfish sacrificial example? As a Christ follower, we shouldn't condemn Judas further or worse call him "Judas The Betrayer" anymore. Perhaps we should change our perception towards Judas and start calling him with more respectable names like "The Selfless One". By right isnt this what Jesus want all His disciples to practise? Read John 12:25-26:

"The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me."

Judas had obeyed God's will, and he has served Jesus (by handing Him over to the Romans soldiers) even to the extent of "Condemnation". What have we done for Jesus?

What Else Can We Say Further?

Jon was sharing his life testimony with his ex-army friend yesterday. His friend was curious about why Jon accepted Christ 20+ months ago... which was after 28 years of Jon's life.

Taking the cue from the Holy Spirit, Jon began to share the story from the Passion Of Christ movie which first touched his heart, to accepting Karen's invitation to Joel's Care Group gathering, to accepting a prayer request from Elaine, to experiencing all sorts of miracles that happened during the initial setup of Jon's business and to all the amazing businesses God has blessed Jon.

Hoping that his testimony could touch his friend, this guy started to share how he faced life's greatest setback when one of his friend crashed his Nissan Paseo almost 20 months ago and could not pay him damages which left him in debts of over $20k. With his wife pregnant and household expenses mounting, he prayed to Buddha. He went through hardships of working 2 jobs and tasted a hard time until one day he met a swimming instructor who gave him an opportunity to become swimming instructor. That guy who became his mentor also guided him in setting up a business in organising swimming lessons for children which he could do during his free time.

He found himself earning 2 sets of income and he has since been able to clear off all his debts and now he was looking into buying a new Honda Accord. His swimming business has been so good that he is currrently thinking of quitting his job to focus on his growing business which is also his hobby (swimming is his passion). He gave thanks to Buddha for guiding him to meet his "mentor" and also for a job so close to his passion and all the blessings that was poured unto him.

He told Jon that he believed in all Gods and respect them all as they could really bless people. This is a classic "Post Modernisation" thinking, Jon thought. Jon could say not much further as been a Christian, he begged to differ. In his heart, he was thinking why our Heavenly Father could allow such things to happen? If He could control all things, why didn't he stop the blessings from these so-called "Gods" and allow us Christians to impact those people in need instead? Why did He allow these "Gods" to change their lives to the better and in the end make them drift further away from knowing His son, Jesus? It seems crazy if non-Christian is reading this statement, but been Christian means that we denounced other Gods right? Of course we have to live in harmony and peace but didn't the bible states that Jesus is the only way to the Truth?

As for Jon seating opposite his friend yesterday, what else can he say further?

No Clue!!!

Jon is really tired... He has been trying to ask his mum to attend church so that people could pray over on her "problematic" left knees which was swollen since a couple months back. You see, Jon's mum has seen all sorts of doctors over the last few months. From poly clinics, chinese sinseh, specialist on bones to Changi Hospital, she has seen them all. She has also went through X-rays and rehab at CH but nothing seemed to work at the moment. Today, upon hearing from her friend about another bone specialist, she spent another $500++ on X-ray and medication again.

Jon was a little disappointed really. Mum have been listening to all the folks and seen all those specialists, but she just refused to listen to her son's plea of attending the church to see if God can "administer" to her...

To make matter worse, Jon's brother heard about Jon's plea and lamented Jon for been superstitious and teased that he was behaving like one of our uncles who always attended chinese mediums whenever things were not right. Jon was really furious this time. Jon's brother even brought up two occasions when Christians tried to ask one of our uncles and aunties to accept Christ at their "death bed" which both end up dying after doing so. He laughed about the "supremacy" of our God!

Jon responded that it should not be interpreted this way. To make matter worse, Jon's Brother felt strange that Jon was getting $800 from the progressive package by the government ($200 more than his brother) and he laughed about why Jon was earning far lesser than him. He criticised that our God was useless as He could not bless us with more business. Jon rebuked him by claiming that things will be different 5 years from now, if he is still alive to see it from himself! He shot back that he would say the same thing after 5 years. Jon held back his nerves and remained quiet... Jon was really fuming inside.

Frankly Jon was really giving up on his family for salvation. They were a bunch of stubborn creatures. And yes, Jon was impatient towards them too. God, you save them yourself ok? Jon really got no idea what to do as he could only be a bad representative for You because of his "impatientness" and "pridefullness". Jon is just incapable of reaching out to his family. Up to you Lord, since you claim to do the impossible... As for now, Jon is better off "shut up" than arguing with stubborn people, which would eventually tarnish the image of Christian... In short, Jon got no clue at all.

Jesus, You Are So COOL!

Jon have just read a few friends' blogs tonight, and he was inspired to write something too.

A few of the blogs were talking about their experiences from attending some "Soul Winning" conference last Tues where the pastor was encouraging the people to boldly declare God's name to others. In fact, Jon concur to this with both hands up.

Over this 20 over months since Jon accepted Jesus as his saviour, Jon could see how Jesus changed the relationship with his friends and clients. There were many times Jon could be meeting the person for the first time or it could be a meet up after a long break, however whenever there was any mention about Jesus and God, the conversation always lightened up! Seriously, Jesus can really pull two different worlds together. The best thing is whenever we talked about Jesus, the conversation would allow people to be more comfortable and relax. Usually conversations that involved Jesus would become more indepth and fruitful. The communication would be more emotional and in no time, both Jon and his counterparts would be talking like close brother/ sister/ close friend. The mention of Jesus is like it straight away springs us into the Kingdom Of Heaven and we were no longer casual friends or associates. Jon likes that. From the usual casual talks, it became a time of fellowship where people declare how Jesus changed their lives and how they feel the need to reflect on their lives. We talked about life rather than talking about how's things are going on the surface.

Life could not be better without Jesus. Jesus is in our lives. Jesus is in our reflection and Jesus is in the air. As Christian, we breathe Jesus and we experienced joy with Jesus. So let's be giving and spread Jesus to those who have not experience such great joy!

Amen.

What An Irony...

After Jon posted the story of Romeo & Juliet, the world suddenly turned into a place of heartbreaks all over. Jon met up with a couple of gals and found out each relationship had its own story:

Miss “A”: Her relationship ended recently. Her ex-boyfriend was stable and wanted to settle down but Miss “A” felt she is still young to do so. Also not prepared to become a housewife as what her boyfriend wanted. To make matter worse, she realized that her ex-boyfriend had not been open and frank enough, so decided to end the relationship. Now she lives a carefree life meeting up with different guys and busy juggling with work and dating.

Miss “B”: In a relationship but not happy. Boyfriend very possessive as he wanted to find out everything that she did and have to “report” to him everyday. Always ended up quarreling over the smallest of things. Feeling very miserable and awaiting for the moment to “snap”…

Miss “C”: Have not found any partner for many years now. Been searching but somehow the right guy just did not appear. Probably she was too workaholic and to make matter worse she is now a VP in a bank; hence most guys were intimated by her work attitude and her present high position.

Miss “D”: Had a bad relationship before and since then quite wary of a having a new one. As she was in mid-thirties, most of the guys her age were already married. Present crop of guys who went after her were mostly younger than her. As she does not want to be appearing as rocking the cradle, she decided to give these guys a miss. Currently looking for the right guy but not in a hurry yet as she does not want to appear desperate into a relationship.

Miss “E”: Planning to get marry now, but recent developments sees her boyfriend having to work overseas for good. Would be prepared to migrate with him once he is settled in his new job, but it will take at least one more year. So now have to leave with separate life and a year of uncertainties.

Miss “F”: A Christian who likes to go clubbing. Got to know a French guy when he approached her in a club one year ago. Wasn’t too impressed with such guy initially but after one year of courtship, found out that this guy was a decent gentleman who has plans for his future family. Beginning to like this guy now and considering a relationship with him. However she does not want to commit yet so that she can continue with her carefree life.

Mr “G”: Yes it’s a guy this time round who was having a broken relationship with another guy. Kind of Brokeback Mountain. Mr “G” wanted to have a stable relationship with the guy but this guy prefer to be free of attachment so that he could meet up with more guys. In short Mr “G” was depressed over this guy’s preference of “no string attached” relationship.

Why is it so difficult to have a stable relationship? Jon decides to look at his parent for answer. In fact there is really nothing special in this relationship. Jon’s dad was neither educated nor rich. He does not have a good temper and patience. He is not handsome or charming. He is not even sensitive and caring towards Jon’s mum. Worse he is so chauvinistic and doesn’t help in house works at all. Yet their marriage is already more than 40 years already. Though there were major quarrels in the past, it seemed to be a thing of a past now. As people grew, relationship grew too.

Besides Jon’s mum is a tolerant, patience and sacrificial woman who gives in and submit to her husband no matter how ridiculous things were. Though sometimes she is in unfair circumstances, she accepts them with grace. As such this marriage lasts this long and the family has been able to enjoy peace this while. Every circumstance needs a hero and no doubt the biggest hero in this family is Jon’s mum. Despite all kinds of situation Jon’s mum was in, she never grumbles or complains. Her silent brought peace into the house. Her patience brought joy into the air. Her sacrifices brought love into this family. The only comparison Jon could compare would be Jesus who came into the world and offer his body as a living sacrifice more than 2000 years ago. To Jon, his mum was as great as Jesus in this family. If Jesus was a classic example for us to live our lives, Jon’s mum was a classic role model for women to learn from as well. So wake up women, stop whining and do what God made you to be- which is to be a woman who supports the man. So shut up and start living by God’s purpose.

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all creatures that move along the gound." > Genesis 1:26

"If God gave man everything that we have in life, then woman gets to enjoy everything that she has through man. " > Jon Tan

Romeo Juliet (2006)

It was a strange morning as Jon woke up at 3.29am out of sudden. As he was dazing on his bed staring at the dark ceiling, visions of Romeo & Juliet's story came flooding into his mind. Scenes of them dying in each other’s arms... it was touching. As Jon continued to dwell in this famous love story, the story seemed to unfold further…

In this new story of Romeo & Juliet, God sent an angel from heaven to “resurrect” them… on 27/02/06. So they were brought back to life. This time round God gave them special skill in order to survive in this modern era. Romeo and Juliet owned a famous muffin shop in the CBD area. Juliet was the woman behind the famous muffins as God gave her the skills to bake wonderful muffins. Romeo was a given the wisdom to be enterprising as his business acumen enabled him to tie up a lot of business deals for distribution to hotels and other F&B restaurants.

Besides, the angel also taught Juliet to be submissive to Romeo so that he could be won over without words but by her behavior. By doing so Romeo would see the purity and reverence of her life and be touched. As such, Romeo would see Juliet’s great virtue and he would treat her with great respect and would love her even more. This kind of attitude really fostered their love, which was in turn reflected into their muffins they baked.

Business really blossomed due to their undying love. This love had created an aroma that dipped into every muffin they baked, and everyone who ate those muffins got a taste of their great love too. Soon everyone working in the CBD heard about their muffins and began to patronize their stalls. The muffins were not only delicious but were able to heal the broken-hearted and able to provide hope to those who were troubled with work problems. In no time, their business expanded in the CBD and their muffins were able to reach more people in need of emotional comforts.

However news soon spread to the Devil. He was angry that Romeo & Juliet were resurrected and even more raged to see their muffins healing a lot of his “victims”. Hence he came out a plan. He put a seed of “justice” into their mind and an Anti Angel between Romeo and Juliet. The Devil specially created this Anti Angel to be very patience, soft spoken and sensitive to woman’s needs and feelings. As such Juliet was able to see the sweetness of the Anti Angel and started to compare those characteristics with Romeo. Soon Juliet became to see the bad side of Romeo. As both of them were busy working so hard over their business, Romeo could not provide Juliet with the kind sensitivity towards her as well as gentleness and patience that the Anti Angel could provide. Sometimes he would also lose a little self-control and they both end up with small arguments. As time passed, Juliet became to feel disappointed over Romeo.

Upon seeing that Juliet is beginning to judge Romeo by his actions, the Anti Angel came forward and continued to “sow” the seed of “justice” which the Devil implanted in them. The Anti Angel told Juliet that for wives to be submissive to their husbands, the husbands must first show their great character and personality in order to win respect from the wives, so then the wives could be able to submit to them. Juliet now began to judged Romeo even more now and demanded him to be more like Anti Angel. Of course as Romeo was just flesh and blood with emotions, he could not match the standards of Anti Angel. Hence small arguments between Romeo and Juliet became big quarrels. The Anti Angel took advantage of this situation and managed to cause the breakup between them. Hence the great love of Romeo & Juliet became falling apart and they both went their separate way. In the end, the Devil won. The muffins business also fell apart. As such people in the CBD were not able to taste that “Loving” muffins anymore and they continued to live each day with broken-heartedness and bitterness. The Devil continued to rule this fallen world.

So this was the story unfold to Jon in the wee hours of this faithful morning. It was ironic as this broken love story tells us a ironic story. It was a love story that went sour in the name of “imperfection”. It was a story of people constantly looking towards a perfect partner and end up forgetting about the good things of an imperfect person. Jon would like to ask, “Who then shall be considered a perfect person?”

In fact, in the name of a “Great Love” lie 2 important questions:
  1. Is a great love a continuous search of a perfect partner? Or;
  2. It is a relationship that blossomed from two imperfect partners working towards acceptance of their shortcomings?

Have not the bible taught us in 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”

The final question Jon likes to ask, “Are you able to find real love with a perfect partner?”

The Tree

Jon took this picture during Steve & Jerlene's wedding last Sat. Jon was invited. Jon was very honored, even so for this time as Jon was going there as a guest. The previous 2 times Jon was the traffic marshal. So this time, Jon was able to enjoy himself as an invited guest.

However Jon realized something on this day. A day to celebrate for the couple not necessarily was a day to rejoice for the guests. Many emotions and thoughts could be lingering around. Some rekindled precious memories, some recalled past hurts. Some looked with aspirations, some stared into blankness. Some enjoyed the company of others, some became isolated. Some felt charming, some preferred to stay away from the limelight. For Jon, he found pleasure with these trees.

If anyone asked Jon that day what was he thinking. Jon's answer was this: "To be a tree among those trees." Jon felt a little tired to be a human being. Being a human being means we were all created differently. It was the most tiring thing on earth as others looked at you with different perceptions and judgements. Our actions were a reflective of our personality. Our speech was a reflective of our character. Our appearance was a reflection of a perceived image of others as we were consious of how others look at us.

As people were busy mingering around others. Jon steered away from the crowd and admired these trees. How he wish to become one of those trees. Here's something Jon felt:

The Tree

We all look the same.
Our movement are in sync, dancing with the beat of the wind.
And we share the same burden as rain and sunshine pour on us each day.

We are always battered over by the seasons.
However we knew we all grew together in the same way.
Nothing's going to separate us as our roots reaches the same soil.

We were raised by mercy and grace.
Our leaves form a nice background with the mother nature.
We live each day knowing that we are the most fortunate of all things.

People look at us in adoration.
They admire at our beauty which bring pleasure to their eyes.
They own everything but they have nothing.

For we are trees and we live with so much joy.

Prophecy On Moving

Today, my business associate who rent me the office reminded me that we would be renewing the lease for another year. At this moment, I hesitated as I was thinking of moving into a bigger unit this year, if i can find. Knowing that the lease would be renewed in March, I know we are running short of time. Hence my partner and I decided to take our lunch at Craig Road so that we can later walk around to see any nice units available.

Just after we had our lunch at one of the coffeeshop round the corner of Craig Road, we noticed a unit up for rent on a second storey shop unit. We called the agent and found out that the agent was just inside the unit. Hence my partner and I decided to take a look at it.

The unit is very clean and nice. It is newly furnished. Frankly speaking, I like this place. The rent was reasonable. Around $2,400 for 1,600 st ft. It is quite a good price considering its at Tanjong Pagar area and around the MRT. However the whole unit is a bit too big for us to bear.

Anyway, in order to reduce the cost, I called up one of my photographer (female) if she is interested to share this unit so that we can both keep our cost low. Also it gives us opportunities to work together to form synergy. However she does not seem interested as its above her budget.

I am currently leaving this to God, as only He knows best what's in stored for me and my business now. In return, this is what I got from Him tonight: Micah 7:6-7, "For a son dishonors his father, a daughter rises up against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law - a man's enemies are the members of his own household. But for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for GOd my Savior, my God will hear me." Micah 7:11, "The day for building your walls will come, the day for extending your boundaries."

So for now, its pretty obvious what this prophecy is about... hence I'm staying where I am until God shows me the green light to move on! If not, I pray that He would supernaturally provide me with means and solution in getting this unit on our own. Any how, praise God for his grace and mercy unto my business and my life.

Amen!

Prophecy Or Possibly

Prophesy or Possibly?

Frankly speaking, no secular words can express my gratitude and appreciation with regards to what God has done to my business and my life over the last few months! As such, I really enjoyed speaking in tongues while worshipping. However, I realized what’s the point of speaking in tongues when only God understands while no one around me can? That was when I realized how important Prophesy is to me.

For your information, I have been praying for vision for a while already. Sometimes I do experience wonderful visions. Some of these visions touched people while the rest of them I am not quite sure about, as I did not receive any affirmation. In fact it was after my Breakthrough Fasting that I experienced tremendous Spiritual Breakthrough. As I knew God is so near me, I decided to try pray for Prophesy in Words. I meant Prophesy with LIVING WORD from the bible!

I remembered how God spoke to me on 2 encounters with regards to my business after my Breakthrough Fasting Testimony:

1) On what will happen to my Lawsuit:

God spoke to me on Joshua Chapter 2 – Rahab and the Spies

It is about how two spies were saved by a prostitute named Rahab’s while in her house when King of Jericho was trying to hunt them down. They were let go to hide in the hills for 3 days before returning to Joshua.

This Prophesy actually assured me that the “pursuers” will soon go away and I would soon be delivered over the problem.

2) On having a non-Christian business partner:

This time round God spoke to me on Mathew Chapter 22 – The Parable Of the Wedding Banquet

This parable is talking about anyone would be invited to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but not all will be chosen by God.

This Prophesy spoke to me that my job is to extend my arms to anyone, leave the judgment to Him.

These were the first 2 encounters as I started out to pray for Prophesy. However it only occurred to me two Fridays ago on 10 Fed 2006 during our Sub-district meeting when Pastor Rusty was preaching to us that I saw how powerful Words of Prophesy could do. I was indeed mesmerized and deeply encouraged.

As such, I decided to pray for the Gifts of Prophesy on top of Visions, so that I could interpret Visions with the Living Words and at the same time using Words Of Truth to build people around me.

On Sunday (12 Feb 2006), as I was trying to pray for our 2 overseas friends (Sidney and Audrey), I received another Prophesy as I felt the need to pray for Spiritual Gifts in our CG so that we could reach out to our fellow friends together. Luke Chapter 9 – Jesus Sends Out the Twelve came to me. It didn’t occur to me how important this verse was until at the end of the sermon when Pastor Jeff wanted the CG to pray together, this verse “came alive” and I prophesied to the CG. It was strengthen by Mable (our sub-district leader) when she re-affirmed Andrea and Peishan over their Gifts of Healing which Pastor Rusty prophesied last Friday. Frankly speaking, Luke 9: 1-2 says it all: “When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the Kingdom Of God and to heal the sick.” What other affirmation do you need from God? In fact, as we settled down over lunch, I realized that our CG has just grown to 12!!! Isn’t this Prophesy AMAZING?

Lastly on Friday (17 Feb 2006), As I was preparing to share about Worship - which is the night's theme, Joshua 11 – Northern Kings Defeated came to me. In fact I was puzzled why this chapter as it was all about how God instructed Joshua on how He wanted the Kings to be killed. It was really a very “bloody” chapter. However this time round, during the CG discussion, I realized that God is trying to tell us that in the past, worshipping God is like been obedience and showing via action God is their Lord and Savior. Unlike presently when worshipping is been reduced to merely forms of songs and praying, God wants to remind us that ACTION is the best form of “worshipping” Him. So do go out and show the world by our actions that Jesus is indeed our Lord and Saviour!!!

May God grace and mercy continue to pour out on us. Let the Living Words come alive in our lives! Amen.

A Breakthrough Fasting Testimony

It has been more than 2 months. And yes, like many characters in the bible who retreated into the desert for a period of time, I also went for a retreat. In fact it was more of a "trial" in life. However things have been clearer now compared to the "stormy" weather that clouded my life over the past many months. Read on:

A Breakthrough Fasting Testimony of mine begins here:

13th Nov 2005 (SUN) - First Day Of Fasting begins.

First week into Fasting:

15th Nov 2005 - First Day of Healing Seminar – Pastor Dennis from Hope Kuching revealed a prophecy to me regarding Business Life Ministry.

16th Nov 2005 - Second Day of Healing Seminar – Achieved spiritual breakthrough.

16th Nov 2005 - Major quarrel erupted with one of my designer which resulted her from resigning the following Monday (21st Nov 2005).

18th & 19th 2005 - God blesses me with 2 last minute jobs for me to tide through Nov 2005.

2nd week into Fasting:

22nd Nov 2005 - Spoke to my photographer regarding a merger, but could not find a breakthrough during the discussion.

25th Nov 2005 – God is once again good as I was able to collect a bad debt of around $2,800 after 1 year of chasing payment.

3rd week into Fasting:

2nd Dec 2005 – Received a lawyer letter against us.

4th week into Fasting:

7th Dec 2005 – Stress crept into my business and spiritual life.
Ø Sales have not been good over October and November period and the legal issue is making the whole situation looks really bad. To make matter worse, December and January were the worst months in our business as clients were going on leave.
Ø Difficulty hiring someone as good as my ex-designer as we cannot rely on fresh graduates. On the other end, hiring a professional is costly.
Ø Cost regarding the legal cost is also a worry.
Ø CG activities are troubling my spiritual life as it was always about sowing. It has affected me personally and spiritually, mainly due to the problems I was facing.
Ø Sleeping difficulties as I was totally lost and had no one to turn to.

Eventually I wrote an email listing out all my problems to my CG, & Shepherd Soo Guan for help!

5th week into Fasting:

12th to 18 Dec 2005 – Move my focus on to evangelistic activities.

6th and last week into Fasting:

19th to 25th Dec 2005 – Begin to participate on reaching and the Christmas party as I was one of the organizing members for the combined CG Christmas party. In the end, I managed to bring 3 friends for the Christmas party. Praise Lord!

Coming to the end of the 40-Day Fast, not much breakthrough was achieved. In fact, many things seemed to go wrong as I was faced with mounting problems. Ironically whenever I felt God is near, something bad would happen to draw me away from him.

7th week into fasting (Break Fast period):

28th Dec 2005 – Received an enquiry over some licensed images worth $25,000 per image. This was a lifeline as the sales for December was very bad. And also, I was faced with the challenge of hiring a designer, Christmas spending and attending to the legal case, henceforth this deal could bring my business back on track.

30th Dec 2005 – Told CG and Shepherd over this enquiry and solicit their prayers. Soo Guan volunteered to do a prayer fast for me. I was humbled and was really touched by his sacrificial life. We begin our second round of fasting the next day. Please note that Soo Guan was also preparing his wedding as his wedding day is on 14th January 2006. Also not forgetting that this time round, fasting was without deadline.

8th week into fasting (Second Fasting period):

Soo Guan and myself meet up over lunch regularly to pray for a direction over this project. At this moment, I was thinking of teaming up with a photographer or to be independent, if so I need a major breakthrough, as the business does not really have a big budget to hire experience designer.

06th January 2006 – Client replied that they had no budget over this job, hence we had to look at alternative images. They were trying to find Royalty Free images which means images that cost less than $1,000 an image. However we continued praying over the deal and I spent the weekend doing researches for the client.

9th week into fasting:

09 January 2006 – Client finally replied cost of project approved and they confirmed buying a total of 4 royalty free images and 2 licensed images. Total package deal after negotiation was worth more than $20,000 and above. For those who were not sure how big this deal to us, I started this business with $20,000 one and a half year ago. Indeed closing this deal was like having gaining faith to move mountains… however I got a full realization of what had happened during this testing period.

A KEY FOR BREAKTHROUGH FASTING

I have come to realize that a lot of us are not really enjoying our life as a Christ follower. Prophet Isaiah is right when he prophesied about us:
“These people come near to me with their mouth and honor with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by man.” Isaiah 29:13

Over these few weeks, I have managed to receive a key to unlock Breakthrough Fasting and the stress we experienced as Christians. Despite all the praying and fasting and all the other holy things that we do as Christians, we have forgotten 1 thing. It is “The Greatest Commandment”. It is found in Mathew 22: 37-39 when Jesus was asked by the Pharisees which (of all things that you have taught) is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied, “ Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on to these two commandments.”

On the 4th of December 2005 I remembered given the opportunity to do ushering for the church. It was the week when I received the lawyer letter. I was very troubled at that moment. However I put all the problems aside and focus on serving the Lord like how He would serve us. In return, I managed to find Joy while serving the Lord as I received a lot of smiles back from those people I met during my ushering. It was genuine Joy and one that has been missing over the past weeks. From that moment onwards, I decided to turn to the Lord and serve him wholeheartedly. This allowed me to move my focus onto sowing and Christmas related activities with the CG.

Since then I did 2 more ushering, one on the 18th December 2005 (1st Christmas service on Sunday) and the other one was on the 8th January 2006. In fact, all of you could have been a witness to my life.

The service on the 8th of January 2006 was the most memorable one as I was tasked to station at the glass door. I remembered a lot of the church’s members were late that morning due to the nation’s Total Defence’s Drill as some of the MRT’s routes were affected. It was also the day when some Hope Kids joined us at the glass door and we had so much fun greeting the guests. I hope some of you remembered it.

One only needs to take a look at Jesus’ life to find out how He overcomes the stress of going to the cross. The night before, he took Joy in washing His disciples’ feet, even the one who was going to deny Him 3 times and the one who was going to betray him as well. He is teaching us to focus on the little things that can bring Joy, rather than dwelling on the problems in life. By following His teaching, I can assure you that the time will eventually come when you look at everything and you can say, “It was very good.” This phrase can be found in Genesis 1:31 after God has created everything on Earth on the sixth day. God has intended our life to be very good…

Thinking back, the day when I was having so much fun doing my ushering on the 8th of January 2006 was actually one day before my big deal was closed - on the 9th of January 2006! Indeed, all was very good! This deal straightened out all the obstacles I had. Praise the Lord!

In fact, I have intended to end my testimony here initially, but God has installed a bigger surprise for me. As I am still recovering from my great joy, God has given me an opportunity to become one of the 4 emcee during our church’s first ever Event Support Appreciation Night on 20 January 2006, Friday. Though I was running my business alone during that time and had a lot of agendas to attend to, I am willing to sacrifice everything that I have to serve the Lord. In fact, it was a last minute arrangement that we only left with less than 1 week to prepare and there were only 2 days to meet up for discussion, scripting and practice. However God was so good that we managed to pull it off on the actual day and everything was smooth and tidy. We had so much fun. In fact it was a great memory for me as I have never been an emcee before and I guess no one would put a single cent to bet on me as I stammered when I talk.

Let me tell you something when you serve the Lord with all your heart, your soul and with all your mind - God will reward you abundantly. I fully understand 1 Timothy 12-14 when Paul says, “ I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.” During the Event Support Appreciation Night, I know God has anointed my lips to speak. In addition to this and to my utmost surprise, I was awarded The Most Promising Usher in the entire Adult 1 region. This was a special award to affirm a promising usher who has served less than a year. As for me, I just joined Ushering for less than 2 months and served only 3 times. What have I done to deserve this award? The grace of our Lord is indeed abundant and generous…

Finally two weeks ago, I managed to get in touch with one of my business associates ex-designer who went China for exploratory trip for 2 months. I had once invited him to join our company few months back but he had other plans. However, this time round he seemed open about his options and when I extended my invitation to him again, he accepted with great enthusiasm! He had just signed my Letter Of Appointment on the 26 January 2006. For those who do not know what kind of catch I have got, this is someone who not only has several years of experience in this industry as a creative designer, he can do Digital Imaging, animation and web designs as well. In short this guy can value add to the company’s existing services. Praise Lord for him!

Looking back at the past two weeks in amazement, I must say that God indeed has shown great mercy unto my life. All my problems are beginning to straighten out one by one. The grace of our Lord was really pouring out on me abundantly. Praise God! Let me encourage those who are facing with life’s troubles. Take heart, as we have Christ Jesus as the SAVIOUR OF OUR SOUL! Move your focus away from the troubles and start doing those little things that can bring Joy, to others and to yourself. You shall be delivered through the grace of our Lord too!

Amen,
Jon

My Suffering

Job did not hide his overwhelming grief. He had not lost his faith in God; instead, his emotions showed that he was human and that he loved his family. God created our emotions, and it is not sinful or inappropriate to express them as Job did. If you have experienced a deep loss, a disappointment, or a heartbreak, admit your feelings to yourself and others, and grief.

Job had lost his possessions and family in this first of Satan's tests, but he reacted rightly toward God by acknowledging God's sovereign authority over everything God had given him. Satan had lost this first round. Job passed the test and proved that people can love God for who he is, not for what he gives.

Oh Hosana

Hosana Hosana, whats wrong with this world?
Hosana Hosana, do we really have to depend on you for everything?

You showed us Love, but you also teach us Love not the world.
You showed us Love, but you also teach us to be Obedient and Patient.
You showed us Love, but you also teach us to Give Up.
You showed us Love, but you also teach us to Let Go .

We all learn to love the Lord faithfully,
but we have all forgotten to love courageously.
We all learn to believe in the Lord wholeheartedly,
but we have all failed to work out the moments in life.

Let us die.
Let us perish.
Where is the point of living?
For we all breathe to worship you...

O God, Rescue me.

My Cry

And now, Lord, what do I wait for?
My hope is in you.
Deliver me from all my transgressions:
Do not make me the reproach of the foolish.

I was mute, I did not open my mouth,
Because is was You who did it.
Remove Your plague from me;
I am consumed by the blow of Your hand.

When with rebukes You correct man for iniquity,
You make his beauty melt away like a moth;
Surely every man is a vapor.

"Hear my prayer, O Lord,
And give ear to my cry;
Do not be silent at my tears;
For I am a stranger with You,
A sojourner, as all my fathers were.
Romove Your gaze from me,
that I may regain strength,
Before I go away and am no more."

(Psalm 39)

Say YES to sinners

Sometimes Jon wondered if he would go to hell, despite he is already a Christian. Reason is very simple. He has always been very frank on his opinions on Christianity today. Sometimes he wondered if whatever he has spoken was guided by Satan. For yesterday, Jon spoke about the DARKNESS that have befall on our church. And today Jon got a revelation of the cause of it...

It was the day for Jon to bring his mum and sis-in-law to Church Of Saviour for the special service with Dong Fang Billy. As usual there was praise and worship in Chinese. Very unique indeed as it was first time Jon worships in Chinese. No doubt the spirit is the same. Jon can sense the presence of the Holy Spirit and expects many good things to come.

The time came for Dong Fang Billy to testify about God for all the things He has done in his life. Well, many people have more or less known it. But there was something that Billy mentioned today that struck the chord in Jon's heart. He had been judged by many many people during the early days when he first accepted Christ.

A lot of time we, Christians, studied the bible seriously so that we are able to equip ourselves for fulfilling the Great Commisson - which is to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything "Jesus" have commanded us.

However here's the trap that Satan has created. A trap that many Christians fell unknowingly. And to make matter worse, these people are matured and "well-equipped" Christians who have been serving the church and our Heavenly Father for many years. As they read and understand the bible, they become very good in identifying the good and the bad. The righteous and the wicked. The holy and the stained. And by exceling in this area, they fell deeply by this trap which Satan has camouflaged naturally. These Christians become very good judges themselves. These Christians are quick to identify the flaws. They are quick to share their knowledge of the Words. They are quick to correct others. They are quick to defend our Heavenly Father. And they think that by doing these make them holy...

Now, let Jon the less "matured" Christian tell you the truth. These people have interpreted the bible wrongly. YES, the bible has written everything about the good and the bad. The rights and the wrongs. But NO, the bible is not to be used to become a judgement book for sinners. The essence of the Holy Bible, according to Jon's understanding, should be a testimony of God's GREAT LOVE for His children, despite all the sins (mentioned specifically in the bible) that we earthly people had committed. Remember why our Heavenly Father sent His one and begotten son onto the cross?

So remember this. Our job as His Children is to LOVE first His children. Do not be quick to say "NO" to sins committed by sinners, for what sins is sin to the sinner? But say "YES" to them as they are, so that they can experience our love so that they can slowly identify with His Great Love. Only through knowing His Great Love can the TRUTH be slowly revealed to them and thus comes CONFESSION and REDEMPTION.

Having said, Christians, the next time before we next open our mouth, remember to say "yes", just like Jesus Himself has said YES to us first.

So praise the Lord, after this revelation, Jon can at least be assured that the things that he has spoken so far have been guided by the spirit. Amen.

What Darkness means...

This post is going to make Jon a less popular person in church. Seriously who else dare to speak negative things about what the guys in church do? Who dares to challenge the system of higher authorities which according to Jon, they are plainly man of earth?

It was church prayer meet at Touch Community last night and everything was so high when power failure creeps in. True enough as darkness breaks in like a thief in the night, everyone in church continue to worship and pray as if God befalls.

As expected, the MCs or the pastors-on-stage raised their prayers to control the situation. Some prophesied, as expected, about this is how judgement day comes. Out of a sudden and there will be not enough time to bring salvation to your close ones. Some even prophesised that the holy spirit would interrupt in the midst, which it did, after the lights went on. Some even tried to get the whole church to pray for a miracle power recovery which was later found out that the technician will be coming in 30 mins time.

Whatever it is, Jon has got other prophesy. Well, maybe Jon shall not be too holy. It shall call an idea probably. Jon thinks that this church really needs a "wake up" call. Enough is enough, God would say. All we could do is to preach holiness by mouth. Action? You know best yourself. Talking about sacrificial life and serving God wholely? You know what you can't give up... Talking about the Words? You know best how to distort it at your own interest.

Here's the verse for you people:

Psalm 5: 7-12

But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house;
in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple.
Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies-
make straight your way before me.

Not a word from their mouth can be trusted;
their hearts are filled with destruction.
Their throat is an open grave;
with their tongue they speak deceit.
Declare them guilty, O God!
Let their intrigues be their downfall.
Banish them for their sins for they have rebelled against you.
(though it sounded harsh this part, but generally referring to Christians who knows the commandmant yet chose to sin. As such, in chinese there is a saying, 'you should be judged more severely than the commoners")

But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favour as a shield.

Here it is, something that all of us needs to know. The more we think we know God, the farther we are from Him. The more you think you can speak on behalf of God, the more you speak evil. Just how many of us studied the bible as we should. Can anyone recite the 66 books compiled in the bible?

We need a complete shut down. Serious. God wants us to humble ourselves up and learn to get back to the basics. Thats LOVE. Before you preach your next Word, show people what LOVE is. Without LOVE, its without GOD. Without GOD, to hell to all your Words.

So back to last night, the complete shut down brings us to complete dependent on God Himself. No guitar sound, no organ, no drums, no spot lights, no looking around. Complete listening to His Words. Complete dependence on God again. This is the basic commandment which we as Christians, matured Christians and appointment holders of God needs to do. A lot of time we forgotten. A complete shut down to see God again.

Here's the revelation:

Revelation 21: 22-27

I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its lamp, and the kings of the earth will bring splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no more night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Here's the realization. Though serving the church is a demonstration to serving God, as Christians, we need to know what the Words really trying to speak. Some times we thought we have been serving well or growing from strength to strength, but we might be blinded by our own spirituality. When the day comes, it doesnt matter how much you have done for the church but who you are and what have you done for His children as a Christian.

Amen.

My Dong Fang Billy

Frankly Jon is not a fan of this fellow. In fact Jon finds that his mouth is a tat too big for his liking. His action is a bit femine. He talks like an auntie. His songs never even amused Jon at all. But this Sunday, Jon would be "worshipping" him.

This Sunday Billy would be invited to give a talk during the afternoon service during one of the church service in Queenstown. Upon hearing this, Jon decided to invite his family members to attend the service so that they could listen to the gospels, since the talk is arranged as part of a "service" session.

Its been a while now as Jon tried to invite his parents to church. Every Sun morning, they would reject Jon as they would normally meet up with the relatives for breakfast together. After which would swing by one of the relative's house for a day of mahjong session.

So amazingly his mum and his sister-in-law gave in to Jon's invitation (Praise The Lord!). Dad was a little bit stubborn and he would prefer mahjong than listening to some "preaching". Brother is a part-time taxi driver who drives mainly on Sun.

Anyway, this Sunday is one of the rare opportunity and Jon is really praying that God can work wonders through Mr Billy! It doesnt matter if anything could come out of this talk, as long as mum and sister-in-law hears the message and become open to it. God, Jon needs you. Billy, may God be with you!

Amen!

Holy Pool Of Water

Another vision surface yesterday during the worship session.

Jon saw a vision of a pool of water. It was a pool of holy water. It spoke to Jon that for one to really want to repent from his/her sins, one must go into the pool of holy water in order to be fully cleansed, so that he/she could move nearer to God.

In the vision, Jon also saw many people circling around the pool not wanting to jump into the "Holy Pool Of Water". Some simply washed their hands. Others washed their faces. A few of them washed their legs only. However, these people did not realise that such partial washing would not allow them to move near to God.

Is there any difference when you walked towards God with your cleansed hands but unwashed legs? God wants complete commitment to Him. Only total confession and repentence will bring you freedom.

This vision was reaffirmed finally by Pastor Ben during his sermon on the "Spiritual Mysteries Of The Art". Point 3 of the sermon pointed to "The Glory Cloud" which meant Union and Communion. Hebrews 10: 19-22 explained everything about Jon's vision of the Holy Pool Of Water.

Hebrews 10: 19-22

"Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water."

Sinful people. It is time to realise that we are all just not good enough yet... May Mercy God help us.

A testimony for my Photo Shoot earlier

Hi Pastor Gerard,

Thank you for keeping me in your email.

Just to inform you that we had a miraculous shoot this evening.

Everything seemed so messed up until 5.30pm when Tommy came back...finally... We took 30 mins to setup the backdrop and Reina was having problems testing the lights. We initially wanted to start the shoot at 6.30pm, but Reina needed more time. This was why she anxiously came into the studio around two plus so that she could have more time testing the lights but Tommy had to rush out last minute for an urgent shoot.

It was 7.15pm and all the clients had already arrived. 28 of them. I was really worried and angry too. Thanks for your prayer on peaceful heart or I would be fuming in front of everyone. By 7.30pm Reina managed to get the lights right. We then began to start the shoot. It was profile shots for the clients, and thank God, everyone seemed to be so photogenic and cooperative that we got all the shots we wanted almost effortlessly. A shoot that supposed to start at 6.30pm to 12 midnight, we managed to finish everything by 10pm. I knew the Holy Spirit was with us today. God is so good and gracious.

It was indeed a great testimony for God definitely. Amen.

Reina, Cynthia & Jimmy: You were copied so that you are able to see how wonderful God has been to me (us). =)

You are all invited to testify more glory of God this Sunday. There is a rare guest speaker by Prince Harvaad Saads from Norway who is residing in Philipines now. Feel free to drop by.

Tommy: Thanks for your help in the setup and assistance for the lighting. Without your help, things wouldnt have progressed as smoothly.

Its written in the bible:

Psalm 127: 1-2
Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labour in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.
In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat -
for He grants sleep to those He loves.

May God bless all of you!

Amen
Jon

Prophecy of Humbility and Vision of 1

This entry is to affirm the prophecy made by the church last Sun 23 Oct 2005.

Someone prophecized about one have to humble down and reflect about oneself in order to move on.

Jon got a vision since 2 Care Group (CG) ago about the thing call "1". It has many meanings:

1. During that day, Elaine popped by to meet Yihong for a discussion at the end of our CG discussion. It means 1 visitor coming to join us? ;p

2. We have 1 new visitor (Bernard-David Johnson's friend) who is quite committed to attend our church already. Jon had a talk with him last Sunday and found out that though he overslept the week before, he still managed to attend the second service by himself. It means 1 new member?=)

3. Dee came back from Rome and she would most probably join our CG for now. It means 1 more Sister in our group!!! =>

4. Last Sunday's vision became clearer that Jon saw a church white in colour standing in a spacious grassland. The church is radiating and shining brightly. The people attending the church is really happy and filled with joy and love! In case anyone start thinking that this vision is regarding our church been able to fulfill the debt retirement and receive the breakthrough pledge by its member and able to build a new building, then sorry, its wrong.

God spoke to Jon about "Unity through Humbility". It requires everyone in the church to humble themselves down in order to move forward in unity. If everyone is looking at how "great" they are, or how far they have accompolished, then the church would be divided into different directions.

So Jon affirm the prophecy last Sun. The church needs to focus on humility in order to be united as 1 so that we can really see a strong and radiant church been formed with Love Joy Peace Patience Kindness Goodness Faithfulness Gentleness & Self Control.

Suicide Bombers

Suicide Bombers

This entry is specially created in response to Ink comment in my entry titled "Love Not The World". I have entitled this reply "Suicide Bombers".

Hi Ink,

Really happy to see your reply.

Bloggers always like to comment somthing like this: "This is MY BLOG and everything here is my own opinons. If you dun like it then dun read it..."

I feel that this is the most irresponsible claim of all time. As a Christian myself, I would like to ask: "Does God allows us, Christians a private "place" or "time" for us to be behave all we want to and yet will not be accounted for?" Such as "taking a day off as a Christian"?

Haa... it seems like a good idea, but just too bad, thats a reality. Christians' life have been closely scrutinised at all time. The first line of observers are our immediate family members. They are the ones who see you day in day out. The moment you declare that you have "converted" means "I am now living a Christian life." Disappointed the parents may feel, but they know that they can't stop you. Hence they would observe you closely just what kind of life we are now living thereafter. Chances are if they see you been a changed person to the better, they would follow suit. If not, you are just as shameful as those SUICIDE BOMBERS out there.

SUICIDE BOMBERS... sound scary right? Face it, its a fact. These are the people who claimed to be fighting for their own "Rights" or "Religion". To us they are called the terrorism. In their own community, they are their spiritual heroes. But we all know that they were all a bunch of shameless creatures who had caused grievous hurts to the world. To these evil-possessed animals, they can also claim that it was their body that they were sacrificing. They thought they had done divine sacrifice which would earn them a RIGHT to heaven. But these creatures ended up destroying more lives and making the most crazy mistakes of their lives.

Hence I brand those irresponsible bloggers "Suicide Bombers" too. The truth is that they may write whatever they want in the blog, but there are ripple-effects in life for whatever we do. Is there a "private place" or "off days" for us? Especially bloggers, the things they write can be observed and affect countless people online. Is it not more sinful than those who succumb to sexual sins behind closed doors? Is it not more sinful than those who harbour evil thoughts in their minds? Is it not more sinful than those careless mouth who spoke freely?

If you still not convinced, take a look at the 2 bloggers who end up in courts recently. My advice to these bloggers. Its online, its alive.

Extending our REACH

There was this religious anniversary around Jon's neighborhood recently. There was a very big tentage at the side of Eunos MRT. It was to commemorate some ancient King whom they worshipped since their ancestors time. It looked like our Christian's Tentabacle. In front of the tentage there was a big stage. During the first week there was the Chinese Opera show in the evenings where many old folks gathered and watched it. During the second week it became "Getai", meaning those Chinese concerts by those "Tom, Dick & Harry" singers. During this time, you would see a very huge crowd watching the concert. There people were mainly late 30s uncles and aunties.

Indeed it looked like a big carnival. Jon had seen big crowds every night for 2 weeks. Even more surprisingly, there was a news reportage of the event on Channel 8 news broadcast. It was learnt that the organizer of the event actually gave away free dinner every night to worshippers. A lot of people staying around the places benefited from it. It was also reported that a lot of Indian/Blangadesh/Pakistan/Thai construction workers also took advantage of the free food they were giving off.

Jon thought it was a really good idea. A lot of time, Christians organize many charitable activities but do not identify themselves of Christian during their outreach events. For example our church (Hope Church Singapore) would work with Hope Centre (S) for all communities events. Why not simply do something so publicly like what those Chinese folks do and allow people from all walks of lives come into the santuary of God instead?

Even the idea of the "Getai" seems interesting. Invite Christian celebrities (Eg Dong Fang Bi Li or some TCS artists) to sing on stage to attract the uncles and aunties in the neighborhood. Then spread the gospels in between songs or breaks. In this case, isn't it more fulfilling instead? Able to do charity as well as spreading the gospels at the same time! Jon believes that it would definitely cost much cheaper as Christian celebrities would come cheaper than those professional "Getai" singers since these celebrities are doing this as outreach events. If all this get publicise by TVs, isn't it wonderful as we are able to spread our deeds to the whole nation?

1 month of silence

Its been almost 1 month since Jon's last entry.

Well, time flies... (seems like a good excuse)

Oh, Jon was having in-camp training over the last 2 weeks... (sound more like it) =)

In fact, this in-camp is the best of all. No outfield traing. Basically every day wake up, eat breakfast, lesson, eat lunch, lesson, eat dinner then book out until 2359 and book in sleep until the next day then all over again.

It seems very boring, but to Jon, it is the best! Who wants to go out field traing with all the loads and junks? Its not as if Singapore will go to war right? Yes yes, people claimed that if any country should stop supplying water over, we would strike... but can we? how far can we go? with life so comfortably in Singapore who can fight a war? Even if we do manage to gather some patriots who can fight, what can become to Singapore in the end? Have we forgotten that we have no natural resources and are only dependent on trade and commerce.

What would happen to Singapore when all the foreign workers left us if there is a war? Imagine all the philipinoes in hospital leave us? Imagine all the Bangalah or Indian construction workers leave us? Imagine all the foreign IT experts leave us? What is left of Singapore? So wake up every soldier, we are all wasting our time in the army!

Opps ok ok, Jon is not opening a debate here on "Protecting The Nation". Just a thought during one of his dozing moments in class... haa...

Ok, anyway the best part of the in-camp is the Cohesion Day. It means team bonding day... SURPRISE? This is new to Jon as well. Its a day to do some activity to build bondings. No vigourous activity or sports, hence the OC propose the whole company play bowling at Tampines SAFRA! Cool right! Guess thats the way for reservist. Get ready for Operations? Forget it... Build bonding is better way of spending tax payers money. =)

That's it for now. Its hell time as a lot of works to follow up at work. Its really crazy for Jon as a business owner as he needs to seize operations to attend Reservist. Though Reina is helping out, but can you imagine a business not doing sales call for 2 weeks? Think the government needs to work out some special Reservist package for business owners since they are promoting entrepreneurship.

Solidarity Is Needed NOW!

The above is taken from Bible.com.

Jon can't do much for victims in New Orleans except spreading the news to gather prayers.

If you care, please breathe a little prayer now... Amen.

Love Not The World

Jon has been reading a couple of blogs and he sees a disturbing trend recently.

In the beginning, most bloggers are blogging mainly about their lives, their emotions, their comments and other experiences that they went through. As time passed by, most bloggers are more open to their comments and the use of their words. As they find more recognition from the other bloggers, these bloggers established a level of confidence and this little confidence gave them strength and courage to write more freely.

A lot of bloggers are trying to find ways to write in the way that connect best to the audience. They yearn for affirmation. They yearn for compliments. They yearn for support. They also yearn for fame.

In the end, these bloggers start to write what the others want to hear. These bloggers write in the way that best connect to the others. These bloggers write things that attract attention.

These bloggers then start to find topics that are interesting. They use certain language that amuse audience. They go the extra mile to use the "earthly" words to strike a cord with the world. They win the world over. They are loved by all.

But do not be happy. Let Jon tells you a truth - these bloggers lost themselves.

1 John 2; 15-17
"Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world - cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does - comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever."

Let's Honor Him

It has been awhile since Jon's last post. He must be tired. He must be troubled. He must be in deep thoughts. He is awaiting for someone. He is waiting on the Lord...

Indeed it has been almost 1 month since his last post. A lot of things has gone by. A lot of things to comment, yet something is withholding him back. He knows whatever he says there will definitely be a "ripple-effect" affecting everyone around him. So instead of speaking, he listens. Then he pray. Then he seek for answers. And he manages to find peace. All in 2 verses like these:

Philippians 3:7-9 (NLT)
"I once thought all these things are important, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the priceless gain of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I may have Christ and become one with him."

Romans 14:7-9 (MSG)
"None of us are permitted to insist on our own way in these matters. Its God we are answerable to - all the way from life to death and everything in between - not each other. That's why Jesus lived and died and then lived again: so that he could be our Master across the entire range of life and death, and free us from the petty tyrannies of each other."

Psalm 34

Its been a long long week. Jon remembered there was one question that the pastor posted, if you have trouble now who do you seek help from? The pastor was trying to say that your shepherd will be someone whom you can do life with and share your problems.

In fact Jon has not been taking this question seriously until now. Up until now, he realized that there was no one in church he could do life with... Worse of all, there was no one who Jon could turn to when trouble arises. After some thought, it became clear that the person Jon would eventually call for help was someone who was not in this church. In fact the person was someone that had left this church and attended the other church...

After much "heart to heart talk" and prayers, finally we found what God has to say. Its Psalm 34:

I will extol the Lord at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
My soul will boast in the Lord;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the God with me;
Let us exalt his name together.

I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.
This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.
The angels of the Lord encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.

Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the man who take refuge in him.
Fear the Lord, you his saints,
for those who fear him lacks nothing.
The lions may grow weak and hungry;
for those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days,
keep your tongues from evil and your lips from speaking lies.
Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.

The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry;
the face of the Lord is against those who do evil,
to cut off the memory of them from the earth.

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all;
he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.

Evil will slay the wicked;
the foes of the righteous will be condemned.
The Lord redeems his servants;
no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him.

Playing God???

Jon's life has been damned. No he did not destroy it himself, it is the work of a careful planned scheme. A conspiracy you may call it. Never did they realise that they are messing with the works that are initially created by God's grace.

In short, there are people whose "...clothing is stained with the blood of the innocent and the poor... And yet they say, 'I havent done anything wrong'" (paraphased from Jeremiah 2: 34-35). Beware of people around you as there are false prophets out there.

Jon is enraged. Furious. Some people are messing in his life and his business which has been committed to God. In short people are playing God now!

Jon says, "Dear Father in heaven, there is nothing I can do now. You created all that I have, now its time you prevent it from crumbling down."

"There is nothing reliable in what they say; their inward part is destruction itself. Their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue. Hold them guilty; O God; by their own devices let them fall! In the multitude of their transgressions thrust them out, for they are rebellious against you." Psalm 5:9-10

"Let evil recoil on those who slander me; in your faithfulness destroy them." Psalm 54:5

O God, you have heard how I confessed my sins. You have seen how I re-committed my life. I am strong in my faith to stand firm. But there are innocent people out there who have been "slayed". Now I am helpless in this. In your name I pray. In your name I uplift my life and those innocent ones into your hands. Its time to take your place as my God. Let those playing God be condemned forever.

Amen.

Revival Is Needed

Have you ever wake up one day and feel really tired to go work at times?

(Not to mention school while skipping classes are such a norm to Jon during his time…)

Have you ever get tired of your favorite food at times?

Have you ever get tired of your favorite sport at times?

If you are married/attached, have you ever thought of needing some time to be alone, at times?

Have you ever wake up on Sun, you feel tired to attend church?

You want to work, but realized that there are piles of work undone… more will be coming…

You want to eat your favorite food, but the thought of problems you going to face in life makes you lost all appetite.

You want to play your favorite sport but realized that it will sap up the energy you will need to face the problems in life.

You want to spend time with your love ones but realize that the time spend can be better thinking of solutions for your problems.

You want to attend church, but knowing that after the “inspiring” 2 hours of preaching you will have to face reality again the next day.

If you are feeling this way, then you are not ALONE. Jon is experiencing all the above. It’s been 2 weeks since he missed church now. Lucky for him, there were valid excuses for him. Two weeks ago, Jon went for a break in KL. Last Sun, he had to attend his grandma’s 3rd year death anniversary.

All this happens for a GREATER reason, Jon reckons. Last Sun, while Jon was at his uncle’s house, he noticed a guitar sitting in his nephew’s (Kia Heng) room. Out of curiosity, he asked his Kia Heng when did he pick up guitar… to Jon’s SURPRISE, Kia Heng replied that he is learning from his church’s friend… Yes, Jon heard it right; CHURCH FRIEND!

Kia Heng has been attending church for a few weeks now. For your information, his father (Jon’s uncle) is actually a very stern and no-nonsense man. Used to be Jon’s and all his sibling’s “Discipline Master”. Yes, Jon was always been canned by him for poor results… hehee… He was the man who molded Jon for who he is right now. A very well respected figure. Kia Heng has been very afraid of his dad and a very obedient child. From young, Jon never hears Kia Heng talks back at his father nor would he do things that displease his father. Today, he has decided to be a Christ Follower. That’s a miracle for Jon.

God is doing a revival in Jon’s family. But Jon chooses to be a whiner to God. God is showing Jon He is mighty. But Jon chooses to focus on his problems. Jon needs to sort out his mind…

May all of you who have eyes to see this post and ears to hear Jon whines pray for him.

Higher Price = Better Journey

As promised, this entry is going to share with all of you why we need to pay additional $$$ for coaches when travelling SIN-KL or KL-SIN.

It all started when Jon was purchasing his coach ticket from Grassland at Golden Mile Complex. They were selling the coach ticket at $26 for a single trip. As usual Jon tried to bargain as he knew of some other companies selling it at only $23. But the lady selling the tickets explained that the service they were providing was much better and they were also providing a direct trip from Point A to Point B. The latter sounded confusing to Jon but as it was getting late, Jon simply purchased the ticket to KL first and hoping to get a better deal when he reached KL for the return trip ticket.

As expected, the journey to KL was indeed comfortable. Only one stop for a short break upon half the journey. Of course there was the expected jam when you reached KL city, especially over the weekend or holiday...

Upon reaching KL, Jon went on to check on the return coach ticket at Puduraya Bus Station. There were many booths selling coach tickets to and fro KL. To his surprise, they were selling the tickets at only Rm $35 only. That was much cheaper than he paid to Grassland...

However the nightmare only began on the way home. Here's the list of what Jon's bad encounters:

Firstly the coach was older than the one from Grassland, so the seats were smaller. The coach also gave off a twinking sound from the rusty screws all around.

Secondly the coach set off 45 mins later than schedule. If Jon was not wrong, the bus company was actually waiting for last min passengers to fill up the whole coach.

Thirdly just when you started to doze off on your seat, you would be disrupted by various stoppages as the coach driver picked up 'Special Passengers" along the way. A closer look reviewed that the "Special Passengers" were the coach driver's friends taking a free ride to Johore. They were sitting at the steps in front of the front doors.

Fourthly, the group of "Special Passengers" chatted loudly which you would never find peace in sleeping.

In the end, you would end up feeling frustrated the whole journey. Lesson learnt: Spend a little more next time when you are travelling to KL on some reputable travel agencies. At least you would enjoy your whole journey. Even if you are not, you know where to complain later.

So choose wisely!

3-DAY-2-NIGHT

Now that Jon is back home, he is thinking of gg away again! Going away is so good! Going to somewhere cheap is even better! Spending $$$ at a country with weaker currency and lower standard of living is ecstatic!!! Heee... =)

Jon had a wonderful 3-Day-2-Night at a foreign land. The thrill of meeting new friends is cool. The challenge of getting around in a new environment is exciting. The feeling of staying alone at a hotel with a KING size bed overlooking the city view is certainly living a life in fantasy!

Living at a not-so-highclass-but-good-cityview-and-good-service hotel was way too cool. Radius International Hotel is a 4-star hotel but located at the central of KL city. Its located near Bukit Bintan overlooking various shopping malls such as Lot 10, Plaza Low Yat, Bukit Bintan Plaza and also the new TIMES SQUARE! At Radius, Jon paid RM$185 per day for a Premier Class room and was given a room at 18th level which is the highest floor. 5-star hotels would cost around RM$250 and above. As a premier class customer, Jon had "VIP" treatment.

First Taste Of VIP Service
Jon was allocated a room at level 17. However as he checked into the room, he realised that it was a corner room and the structure of the room was a little "edgy". To make matter worse, the size of the window was a 2-panel window. It felt like a prison. It was very uncomfortable to stay in a room with so many edges and small sized window, even though it was facing a freestyle swimming pool with an opportunity of seeing bikini babes jumping into the water... Hence Jon dialed up the Room Service and requested for a change of room. Without asking a question, his request was warmly accepted and to his surprise, he was given a new room at level 18 (highest level)facing the whole city with a 4-panel window! What a sight!

First Encounter Of A Gay stranger-cum-friend
Jon met Jack (a Malaysian from Sarawak who worked in SIN as hairstylist in Wisma) in the coach on his way to KL. Jon did not really talk to him during the journey and the only time they spoke was when Jack borrowed newspaper from him during the journey. As Jon alighted the coach at Puduraya Bus Station in KL, Jon asked Jack for road direction. During the conversation, Jon found out that Jack was staying at Westin Hotel which is near to Radius around Bukit Bintan area, hence they explored the road together. As Jon almost reached his hotel, they parted directions with the exchange of phone numbers as Jack would be meeting up some of his KL friends and they would be bringing him around. Jon thought it would be good to join them since he was a stranger in a foreign land. So they agreed to "sms" each other for updates.

That same night, Jack text Jon that he was meeting his malaysian friends for dinner and they would be heading for the pubs later that night, hence asking Jon along. Jon felt privileged and asked for where they would be heading later. To Jon's surprised, Jack returned with a sms saying that they would be going to a GAY PUB and asked Jon if he was fine to join them. Jon replied carefully that "Gay Pub" was not his type and he would prefer to go to places with more "pretty women" instead. Jack replied to say that his friends were all heading to the "Gay Pub" and said it was okay if he wouldnt want to join them. With this, Jon spent the rest of the night visiting Times Square alone... Phew, it was a close shave!!!

First Sleep on a King Size Double Bed on top of a City.
Staying in a hotel as a Premier Class customer is great. Jon returned to the hotel with a pleasant surprise as there was a plate of fruits on the table as welcome gift. This new room got a splendid view of the KL City, especially at night with all the street & car lamps brightening up the roads in between all the buildings. (Reminds Jon of his own office overlooking the CBD!) There was a pair of slipper to wear. A bath tub for a lovely bubble bath. Free 1 hour internet assess in the room. And yes, Jon was also able to catch his favourite team Arsenal playing against Chelsea on Star Sports in the Premier Room! Though Arsenal lost 1-2 eventually, nothing could take away that wonderful night Jon had in KL...

Second day (Mon) was business as usual. A series of meetings with friends, contacts and potential business associates had made this trip a great purpose as Jon opened up future business opportunities in KL. It was a wonderful day as Jon gathered great business tips to do business in KL, valuable business contacts and advises from people that he met. It was fruitful exploration trip as he not only visited great people, he also went to various shopping area like the new Hatamas Shopping Centre, the Biggest-shopping-centre-at-Petaling-Jeya called 1 Utama and the hottest-nightspot-at-Bangsar.

The last day (Tuesday-Our National Day) was spent shopping around at KL city area. Jon went to Plaza Low Yak (aka Sim Lim Square in Singapore) to check out potential buys for IT upgrade. Jon realized that the prices were not so much different EXCEPT RAM!!! Jon recently bought his laptop 1 gb ram at SIN$400. They were selling at RM$490!!! Almost half price?! Jon bought 2 x 1GB Ram. One for himself, Another one for his great assistant Reina! =)

After doing his last-min shopping, hanging around some other shopping mall, had 31 Baskin Robbins ice cream and a KL-made chocolate waffle, Jon headed to Puduraya for his journey back...

(To be continued as Jon would share his final encounter with a bad experience during the bus ride home...)

Runaway Jon

Just in case some of you are wondering where has Jon been, here's the update:

After contemplating the whole day (Sat), Jon finally made up his mine to runaway from home. He logged onto the web at 6pm to check around hotels in KL and settled at a "not so expensive" hotel (Radius International Hotel) near the centre of KL City. After deciding on that, Jon gave a call to confirm if there is room availability. The response is postive.

Its time to decide on the mode of transport. Flight? A bit too expensive to fly from Singapore. AirAsia from JB-KL? Time consuming like coach. So Jon called up some travel agencies in Golden Mile and checked on the availability of coach tickets. Bingo! Some seats left but very limited. Need to purchase it by 9.30pm tonight. Time check... 8.30pm! Got into his bro's van and rushed down Golden Mile to purchase the tickets.

Confirmed! Jon is taking the coach from Golden Mile at 8am later this morning. Return trip - 2pm from KL to SIN.

Total Cost: S$56 return trip + $370 ringgit for hotel stay.

Yes, first time travelling alone. Also first time making such a rush plan. Exciting journey... A retreat. A getaway. A runaway. An escape. A breakaway. Whatever. Byeeee people! For 3 days 2 nights...

Be Merciful on me

Don't look at me.
Don't ask me questions.
My world is falling apart.

Let the problems pass.
Allow the silent to calm.
Invite the dreams to get me into shape again.

Make me sleep.
Get me drunk.
So that I do not need to face the it again.

Darkness sets in.
Storm fills up.
May my prayers find its way.

I'm draining.
I'm losing.
Be Merciful on me.

Waking up each morning hoping for a better day

It seems that the world is going through a bad patch down. People down with sickness, heartbreaks, lost of job, lost of faith, lost of focus, lost of LIFE...

Like the weather, it affects people all around. People without umbrellas get wet in the rain as compared to those with umbrellas. What do you do when life isnt what you want it to be?

As Jon looked around him, he found out that many people too were experiencing life's negatives. Jon went into some of his friends' blogs and realised their struggles. While some wrote songs, others chose poems. Someone transfered his disappointment into shrewd writing, another went into hacking. There are also people commit themselves into prayers, yet there are people who chose to sin...

Jon? He wakes up every morning hoping the new day turns out better. If its another bad day, he would walk through the day like a walking corpse until its time to bed.

When God seems silent, prayers needs patience and faith requires perserverance, isnt life just like "Waking up each morning hoping for a better day"?

Something out of Nothing

Jon was down with flu since last week. Finally succumbed to a western clinic on yesterday after many days of drinking chinese herbal tea.

Life had been miserable since last week for Jon. Maybe it was becoz of the chinese flu tea that attributed to Jon's disrupted sleep from Wed to Fri. Always woke up at 2am and ended up staring blindly at the ceiling and listening to the silence. In fact, silence was deafening especially when life is having it against you.

As Jon is typing this, the silent tone can still be heard... Jon can relate to some pyschiatric patients when they always complained to doctors that they hear things. Yes, the sound of the silent is always ringing in your ears, just that most of the time we would miss it. However when things started to be out of control, you tend to hear the deapening sound loud and clear, especially at night.

Jon is slowly recovering. He has been taking the medicine prescibed by the doctor who discouraged taking chinese herbs. We all know that farmers sprayed all sorts of chemicals onto their crops to protect against insect or preserving their freshness, now imagine "dried herbs" which normally do not go through washing up like the daily vegetables that we eat.

Other than above, Jon has nothing much to write already. He is feeling drained over the problems that cropped up in life. He is not thinking anymore. He is not praying too. He is not preparing for breakthrough now. All he wants now is to recover from the damn flu bugs. To have good sleep tonight. To see all the problems go away. To let the storm subside. Just like the tsunamic victims, slowly wait for the flood to drained away and then see how HELP can come in... Let's see how things go...

What do You want from me now?

This week started off as a terrible week for Jon.

Something cropped up so badly that affects Jon's vision in life. It resulted so badly that he does not know what to do next... Let Jon ask you a question, "What is the thing that can happen to make you want to die immediately?" If you have this answer now, then you will know how Jon feels now. If not, Jon suggests you to go watch "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" rather than continue to read this post.

Anyway, this morning received an email from someone that gives Jon some consolation. See below:

The bible says that God will not put us to the test until we could not take it... Jon is asking Him, "What do You want from me now?"

Honey Bee Story

Jon recently went into a few blogs and noticed an increasing trend of "soul-searching" posts. The questions asked are "What am I doing here", "What is my purpose in life", "Wassup with my life", "Boring boring boring life" etc etc...

Jon feels that this is absolutely very normal for people, especially teenagers to start questioning life. Life is so routine isn't it? What ever we do, achieve or own will eventually be left behind at the end of life. So we might ask, "Why am I doing what I am doing now?"

Dear friends out there. Jon would like to share with you The Honey Bee story today. In fact, you may reckon your life just like the honey bees. They are the most workerholic among all insects and are ruled by the queen bee. Just like us, working everyday for a boss... or slogging our lifes to pay off our housing loans, car loans & all the other bills you can relate to now...

Like us, honey bees have to go through a long process to make honey. The house bee and the field bee are involved in the process. First the field bee goes out and collects nectar, which it stores in an internal honey sac. They bring it back to the hive and transfer it to the house bee tongue to tongue. Then the house bee spreads a drop of nectar on the roof of a cell in a comb. During the next couple of days other house bees fan their wings over the nectar so that the moisture evaporates (nectar is 80% water and honey is 19% water). Finally, more house bees cover every cell filled with modified nectar with a thin layer of wax... blar blar blar...

So looking at the above, honey bees will be also asking the same questions that we have discussed earlier until the day they die. However, never would the honey bees realise that all their hardwork has actually paid off to something bigger than they can ever imagine or understand. They do not realise that they are the prime pollinators of the planet. For all we know, honey bees make and do things that are helpful to us. They provide us with honey, royal jelly, beeswax, and propolis.

Having said that, Jon would like to encourage all of you. Do not feel lost any more. Like honey bees, we might not understand or imagine why are we going through what we are going through now... BUT trust the Creator of heaven and earth that whatever we do now has an impact somewhere somehow. Knowing this fact, life can never be better ever! May you all look at life in a NEW PERSPECTIVE from now on.

Embrace!

Solidarity Is Needed

Recently there are so much ra-ra about the the London bombs, NFK saga, Bloggers conference and even Xiaxue's blogs been hacked... etc which had kept Jon busy flipping through papers and reading various blogs for updates. However Jon received an email from a friend today and it opened up his eyes a bit.

The email came with a powerpoint attachment. It was actually a powerpoint clip of a short MTV which were aired once in the US and was banned.

The music is very nice and refreshing. The background picture surrounds the picture of the twin towers burning in flames. There are some words next to the flaming towers which reads, "2,863 people died during the terror attack and the world united against TERRORISM". This statement repeats 3 times in 3 different pictures during the clips.

The first picture shows a disheartened man sitting at the foreground and the words beside him reads, "40 million people died of HIV. The world united against terrorism. It should also be united against AIDS."

The second picture shows a lonely boy sitting at the foreground and the words beside him reads "824 million people starving in the world. The world united against terrorism. It should also be united against HUNGER."

The third picture shows a backview of a man standing at the foreground and the words beside him reads "630 million people homless. The world united against terrorism. It should also be united against POVERTY."

Jon can understand why a government would banned such MTV clips for the concerns of public dissent. But Jon feels that it is something that we have overlooked in our daily life which are filled with the all-too-boring-stuffs.

Looking at how the world united against terrorism over the last few years. One can calculate how much have been spent on wars, military, upgrading of security equipments, internal securities and even publicities on terrorism. But little has been done on the above mentioned... WHY?

Let Jon tells you why. To come together dealing with AIDS, POVERTY & HUNGER means total giving. Nothing can be taken from it for those who give. So it takes an extra effort or motivation to form a solidarity.

Jon feels this brings comparison to Christ followers who preach to people surrounding them without expecting in return. Some of them have been sowing in vain. Some got lost sowing. Some even got tired.

However, please rest assure that God's eyes are always on us as Paul has said in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, "We do not lose hearts. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

May all of you, and Jon too, be refreshed daily.

Amen

Anticipation...

Pastor Ben rockz! First time see how our pastor rockz to the tune "Nothing Gonna Stop Us"! Haha... In fact prior to the song, Jon was still praying for the mental breakthrough to embrace God's plans for us and the church! However as the church begins to rockz, confidence slowly crept into his heart and Jon began to feel the Spirit piled up as Faith replaced Doubt. Frankly, the song beat the testimony that Pastor Dinah dished out (With due respect to Mark! Sorry... Jon a rocker too... hee!)

Anyway, just as how the heat wave affected various parts of the world, Jon body simply heated up as well. You can imagine kindda like Touch from the movie F4! heh... =)

Well, Jon sensed that God has bestowed its Spirit upon the church and Jon himself. He began to pray. Pastor Ben mentioned about asking God to prepare our hearts for the next 2 weeks until 1 August when the church embarked onto our new JOURNEY for BREAKTHROUGHS. And Jon knew exactly what God is gonna do now. He is gonna strengthen Jon's FAITH everyday... Read on...

Jon feels that God is going to grant him all his wishes this week by closing the pending jobs that he desired:

1. Great Eastern Life (GEL) to buy a visual which we created.
2. Mandate to select the talents that Jon proposed today.
3. Mandate to use our photographer for one of the commercial shoot for SPC.
4. Tuesday shoot to execute smoothly in order to impress AMA Group for bigger projects in the future
5. Graphic Masters to use our photography services for their clients website.

Today, Jon saw the first wish fulfilled. Below was what Jon created with his photographer (Simon, also a Christ follower) based on client's needs as we were unable to find anything close in our library. Today client indicated their interest to buy this visual. Amen!

Next, Mandate expressed interest in the talents (6 of them)whom Jon proposed. And they are trying to propose if SPC could use our photographer as well.

Tomorrow will be our shoot for AMA Group, faith is strong... Amen!

Graphic Masters still pending, spoke to them in the afternoon and they seemed sincere.

Mind you, that's not all God has in mind. Jon received a call from L'oreal this evening for talents in a perfume launch. Jon sent in a quote, tomorrow will be the answer. God help us!

So anticipation growing intense now... In your arms, amen.

Breakthrough Begins Today

Today service begins with an anticipation. Its the last sermon on Values Driven Life and we were told that the church would be embarking on a 20-something months campaign called "Breakthrough" until April 2007!

When Jon first knew about this (few weeks back), "Oh man!" Jon simply was caught in awe. This campaign is indeed a breakthrough itself as Jon has never heard something like that before?! Questions started to flood into Jon's mind as follows:

1. Will there be enough relevant scriptures for the pastors to use for their Sunday sermons until 2007?

2. Will this restrict the church from been "flexible" if they fix on one topic for the next 20-somthing months?

3. Will there be enough "breakthrough" testimonies to share from the members? As Jon feels that "breakthrough" testimonies shouldn't be normal testimonies that we hear week in week out... you know what Jon means?

4. What must Jon do to make sure he is on track to witness and tag along with the "breakthroughs" that God has installed for us?

FIRST BREAKTHROUGH from Hope

Today Jon witnessed the first breakthrough from God: Pastor Ben created a personal blog as a means to "communicate" with the cyber world!!! This is something Jon has never imagined! A lot of people would definitely be thrilled to hear this. "Internet Fellowship" would be interesting as none of us have ever experience it before... What Jon means is this, "Which pastor did that before?!" So thumps up to Pastor Ben from Hope Singapore!

Now that the bloggersphere is heating up over the NKF-SPH saga, this piece of news would certainly caused some ripples among the "already" bloggers from Hope Singapore! Mind you, there are more than 2000 members in church, so there will certainly be quite a number out there, especially the tertiary lads, who will be eager to find out from Pastor Ben's blog @ benkclee.blogspot.com. Imagine this, Pastor Ben's blog became the top 10 blogs in Singapore? SEA? Asia? World? Would we caused a trend across all Christian communities to follow suit? Start to imagine that... ;p

Next, Jon begins to worry too for some "Hope" bloggers. Would bloggers want to get involve in Pastor Ben's blog? If we do, most church people would be able to asses each other's blog as well... So what does that mean to bloggers who want to keep things personal? Jon knew some bloggers who use blogging as a means to "voice out" or "vent" their "earthly" comments and frustrations into the cyber "space" so that we do not "corrupt" or "influence" the people around, especially spiritually not stable ones... Like Jon, its a way he could leave his deep honest comments he feel would otherwise not be accepted by people in this all too common world. In short, its a way some of us balance our lives as we continue to practise the Fruit of Spirit in real life and surpress our deep devilish self in the cyber world...

Anyway whatever the issue next, we can only anticipate. Why not just embrace this opportunity to see how this breakthrough leads us to. FYI, Jon has just commented in Pastor Ben's blog, so he is expecting some "peepers" real soon. Hi there mates! May God blesses us all. And stay cool, God has His ways.

Amen.

What's next Singapore?

Kudos to SPH, without them a lot of dark secrets could not come to light. Thats what the press should do. To publicise what the public do not know, or do not have the means to find out.

Ok ok, looking at this "SPH Vs NKF"... 2 national brands against one another, no one can show favourism right now. In the end Truth prevails, and the loser made to pay for the actions. In fact this time round, there isn't just 1 scapegoat who pays as the whole NKF board resigned!

In fact, this saga gives us an insight of how wonderful life can be in Singapore if everything is playing at a fair ground with no favourism or manipulation. Everyone just keen to find out the truth and transparency speaks for itself. However do we have this fair game all the time?

Looking at the way how NKF operate brings me to think about how our country is ruled over the last 40 years as well. This time round, we are talking about HUGE PUBLIC FUND and mind you, we are not talking about volunter donors here, but everyone who called themseves citizens contributing to the fund through all sorts of taxes!

Have we seen transparency from our "board of directors" running the country? Are they earning too much? How about their bonuses and spending? How's their toilet status? etc etc... this time round who will be playing the "SPH" role to bring every dark issues to light. Or can anyone do anything as almost everything that has power in this country seems to be under control by the country itself... even the way our juricial system works...

So how can we get a fair game now, Singapore?

NKF???

NKF, NKF, NKF... These words just keep ringing in my mind...

Perhaps most of you have read enough articles related to NKF to be really convinced that enough is enough, the system is wrong somewhere... So what can we do next?

Some people might argue that $600,000 is peanut for a CEO, but to many of us who are earning real "peanuts", $600,000 is just too big a nut for a (NPO) Non-Profit Organization who claims to HELP the poor for kidney dialysis... So which is more important? To hire a multi-million dollar CEO to manage that already "cash-savvy" fund which can sustain the institution for the next 30 years in how to spend more "extravagantly" or a kind hearted leader who just foucs on the next suffering victim and careful on every cent he and everyone in the institution spend?

Bonus of 12 month a peanut too? To a NPO, how did they manage to work out such a good bonus? Is managing few thousands patient every year with 996 staff (as of 2003 from Financial Statement published in NKFS website) a very impressive achievement? For this, the CEO can command the the kind of salary and bonus we mentioned above with corporate CEOs in the private sectors? I hope the other CEOs can swallow this well...

Come to think of it, poor TT Durai should be sympathised... He has even claimed it, whatever he takes and whatever entitlements provided is approved by the board. So why should we make things difficult for him? If what he said is true, then as the public providing the funding to the institution, isn't we right to be asking for TRANSPARENCY of the way the institute spend so that we are able to analysis if this institution uphold its vision: "To be a world-class, not for profit healthcare institution committed to saving and transforming lives." which is the primary reason why we donate in the first place.

Things to note during consideration:

1. Must the board or the CEO of such institution have the same vision of the company? If so, are they prepared to humble themselves to accept the kind of benefits/salary thats sufficient and not trying to match the world's view?
(As of the Financial Statement published in their website, the 2003 Total Employee Cost is $27,125,000 for 996 employees = $2,269.49 per average employee. So Mr TT Durai is earning more than 10 times of the average employee, what about the rest of the board? How dare he claim that his salary to be compared with the private sectors...)

2. Does been a world-class institute means everyone in the institute should enjoy "world-class" salary, benefits and treatment?

3. Should the publicity focus on how much lifes are saves and how much poor people have benefitted rather than on how much $$$ been raised each year, been a leading social entrepreneurship for many years, how much celebrities participating in charity shows and how many cars or condos to give away each year...

4. So already having enough reserves for the next 30 years, what's next? Making it 50 years or 100 years? Or consider fully subsidising those patients who really have problem affording the dialysis?

Be Like A Child

Tell you frankly, Jon's mind is running wild again...

The fact that Jon is dealing with so many sweet little kids during the past few weeks makes him wants to be a Father too. To make matter worse, seems like most people in church is also getting pregnant too! Love is really in the air!

Ok, here are the solutions:
1. Get marry and bore a child
2. Go to an orphanage
3. Get a Godson
4. Adobt a child in Africa
5. Get a pet instead
6. Be like a child

Guess looking at my situation now, number 6 seems a better option... =)

Big Storm Ahead

Finally, Jon is back to continue on where he left off: Further insights of the topic "The Compromising of the Christian Worldview"

Though, it's an intellectual CG lesson on a "Heavy" topic, Jon is terribly disappointed on how the session went. Its not because the chairperson's inability to teach (In fact he managed to inteprete all the "Bombastic" words) but the fact that the session is almost an one-way teaching rather than two-way discussion due to lack of time (only 45 mins allocated) actually killed the essence of this topic.

Jon felt this session a big "turn-off" because as most of the people are unable to voice out their thoughts... Looking at the conclusion: "Is the Word Of God Supplemental or Central to our lives?" Here we are trying to finish off a lesson in 45 mins without in-depth discussions... So Jon would like to ask, "Is this a supplemental lesson for CG or are we more keen to find out how are we going to face this crisis as a church and how do we overcome this problem?"

Next, Jon was also very surprise by a comment made during one "cross-fire" enquiry from a German visitor who brought up an interesting finding that our church's teaching is not too focus on the teaching of the Word Of God as compared to the church back in Germany, but rather touch on how the preaching here is catered to our daily lifes.

One reply arised was that our church is tuned to the "frequency of the mass" in the teaching so that we are able to reach a wider range of audience for faster church growth... In short someone mentioned that some churches basically preach things that most people in this "new age" society want to hear in order to become "Mega Churches" in the shortest possible time?!!! To bring it to an extreme, someone also mentioned that there is a "cost-time factor" which affects how some churches preach...

Well well, this is something NEW that Jon ever heard!!! Its very disturbing for Jon to find out that churches adobt its own style of preaching in terms of how the style "attracts" audiences. Without mentioning names of any churches, Jon really felt worried if this has any impact on our individual's spiritual growth...

Questions to ponder:

1. Is our spiritual growth been manipulated?
2. Are we at a church that preaches the "truth" about the Word Of God or preaches the things that we want to hear only?
3. What will happen to the Christians who belong to the kind of churches who preaches "superficially".
4. Is there any differences to God for Christians who studied the Word of God well and those who briefly know the Word by its meaning only?
5. What exactly are the standards for church practises?

It looks like its going to be a long journey for Jon again, as he recovers from the last spiritual storm and now heading to another challenging one. Well, just like Paul in Acts when he was sailing through the storms, Jon would like to ask God to be with him so that his life will be safe in His hands no matter what happens.

May all souls be saved! Amen.

The Compromising of the Christian Worldview

Today is a very interesting day as the CG goes into a very intellectual teaching session by our CL.

Before Jon starts to journal what he has learnt today, let him find out the meaning of some bombastic words that we used earlier:
(Meaning found from www.dictionary.com)

Modernism – modern thought, conformity to modern ideas, practices, or standards

Modernity – a state or quality of being modern

Post Modern – Of or relating to art, architecture, or literature that reacts against earlier modernist principles, as by reintroducing traditional or classical elements of styles or practices to extremes

Rootless – having no roots

Illiteracy – the condition of being unable to read or write

Exaltations – a state of being carried away by overwhelming emotion

Exposition – a systematic interpretation or explanation of a specific topic

Piecemeal – In pieces apart

Doctrinisation – no such word

Doctrine – a teaching

Marginalisation – the social process of becoming or being made marginal

Marginal – Barely within a lower standard or limit of quality

Presumptuous – Going beyond what is right or proper; excessively forward

Supplemental – something provided to complete a thing, make up for a deficiency, or extend or strengthen the whole

WOW! After seeing the list of bombastic words above, Jon must have left thinking that he must have undergone some SUPER CHARGED Bible Study Session! Read on…

TITLE: The Compromising of the Christian Worldview

“ Now a new tidal wave, called by the scholars postmodernity, is sweeping across Western thought, undermining the very idea of absolute truth. What should be the response of the Christian church in the face of these waves of philosophical attack?”
- James R. White

The emergent crisis that we face in our churches and in contemporary discipleship is the crisis of Theological Rootlessness. There are 4 features of this crisis:

a) The Rise of Bible Illiteracy

i. Living in an instant society
ii. Biblical Exaltations Vs biblical Exposition
iii. An inherent weakness in Bible Study/ Cell Groups
iv. A piecemeal approach to scriptures.

b) The De-Doctrinisation of Christianity

i. An Intellectual orientation
ii. Losing our ability to think

c) The Marginalisation of Theological Education

i. Theological Compromise
ii. Theological Credentials Vs Theological Competence

d) The Presumptuous of Faith

i. An Experimental faith Vs a Presumptuous faith
ii. A Shallow spirituality

Conclusion

Is the Word of God Supplemental or Central to our lives?

So, here’s what we learnt today, digest... BUT come back soon as Jon's next post will touch on how the discussion went earlier on.

Meanwhile Jon wants to say good night to everyone! May God be with you all!

Elijah's story

If you have read the last post, you might be wondering why did Jon behaving like a wimp... isn't he been blessed enough by God yet? Perhaps God has seen his blog, so He is sending an angel (by the name of Elaine) to tell him the story of Elijah.

1 Kings 19:3-11
(Prior to this Elijah was the only Lord's prophets and he just managed to perform great mircales of God at Mount Carmel, and now Jezebel is hunting for his life)

Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day's journey into desert. He came to a broom tree, sat down under it and prayed that he might died. "I have had enough, Lord," he said. " Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors." then he lay down under the tree and fell asleep.

All at once an angel touched him and said, "Get up and eat." He looked around and there by his head was a cake of bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and the lay down again.

The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, "Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you." So he got up and ate and drink. Stengthened by that food, he travelled forty days forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God. There he went into a cave and spent the night.

The Lord Appears to Elijah
And the word of the Lord came to him: "What are you doing here, Elijah?"

He replied, "I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Isrealites have rejected your covenant, broken down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too."

The Lord said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by." ...

Having heard this story of Elijah, Jon realized that we are humans afterall and we have our fragilities. But Elijah's story is a great testimony of showing "Obedience" as it was written in bible, that if you have been obeying God's guidance, you will one day be taken to heaven just like how God brought Elijah back "home" when the time comes...

Ok, its time to "WAKE UP" and carry on the journey with God!

A Humbled Moment

June is supposed to be the best month for Jon. Here's a summary:

1. Jon's company managed to hit his monthly sales target within the first 8 days of the month.
2. Jon managed to go through the church camp.
3. Jon managed to build a better relationship with his Care Group.
4. Jon's company is appointed to handle a sponsorship photo-shoot for this year NDP Commemorative Magazine.
5. Jon participated his first "volunteer' work last Sunday @ Punggol CC.
6. Jon's company managed to close more sales for the month of June!

But Jon is not happy. Something is missing. Something is amiss. Jon is confused of something. Jon needs to find something. Something is bothering him. But what is that "thing"???

Today is a typical "lethagic" Monday. Follow up on emails, calls, clients and friends. However still have to work till 8pm before he can knock off. Jon is upset to leave office so late, thinking that he can have more rest tonight.

Jon is also upset of having to eat dinner alone. Jon does not know what to eat either. He paused at Eunos market and think for a moment what to eat. Eventually Jon decided to "packet" roti prata for the night.

As Jon was waiting for the prata, he felt really bored eating alone at home, so he decided to eat at the market instead. Jon chose an empty table and decided to have a quick bite instead. As the prata arrived, a blangladeshi came over and shared the table (of 6) with Jon. As Jon grudgyly tore apart his "Telok Bawang Prata" with the oily fork and spoon, the blangadeshi was enjoying eating his 2 "Prata Kesong" with his bare hands. Jon was curious what was so nice of the prata that gave this fellow such joy eating his food? In fact that blangadeshi finished his prata within ten mins and even finished up all the curry gravy that was given to him, before hurriedly left for the MRT station. He did not even had a drink like what Jon has... a hot aromatic "teh terik" as "dessert". Hurrying to go home, or could not afford luxury of a drink as dessert?

Jon observed this blangadeshi with a curious mind... "Here's a guy wearing an oversized polo white shirt, a black dirty old pants and a small torn haversack, enjoying his roti prata opposite someone wearing a smart white shirt with an executive grey pants, a black pvc laptop handbag... & an empty feeling within..."

Just as Jon was still in his daze, an old haggard lady came over to clear away some empty glasses that were laid at the table by the previous diners, she smiled as if to say hello to Jon and took the glasses away. Jon placed his eyes onto this 70s-looking old lady as she moved from table to table clearing the glasses. As she came across empty cans, she would tugged those emptied cans into her big plastic bag that she carried around her armpit. What amazed Jon was at every table this olg lady approached, she would always greet the people around the table a smile before doing her 'trade"...

The big question now appeared in front of Jon... "What's up with you, bro?"

In fact, tonight's encountered served as a "wake up" call for Jon. We have been too comfortable and used to our daily life and forget to appreciate our PRESENT!

Comparing ourselves to many people out there, we have almost EVERYTHING! "So what else do we want?!"

God Disciplines His Sons

Just when Jon was talking about the Wind Of Devil, The Holy Spirit is not far away as well. Today's Bible reading brings Jon to:

Hebrews 12: 4-13
"In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood. And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons:

"My Son, do not make light of Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those He loves, and He punishes everyone He accepts as a son."

Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by His Father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone goes through discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share His holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. "Make level paths for your feet." so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed."

After reading it, Jon believes that its a good encouragement from the Word Of God for us who are trying to stand firm in the Storm Of Devil... Enjoy the journey!

Wind Of Devil

Got this strange feeling recently.

Jon can sense the wind of devil is getting stronger each day.

It happened in the past whenever Jon gets spiritually high, and the wind of devil will then come to swipe you off your feet.

This time round, after the super-charged Church Camp, this devilish wind is blowing very strong and forcefully. Jon needs special help from the Holy Spirit to stay firmly on the ground. Its very dangerous. Its blowing from all fronts. We have no where to hide as the wind struck our body. So its based on everyone's strength to hold against the wind.

Jon is also sensing this wind blowing across the whole church. Not all will fall, but many needs spiritual help. Those not firm will be swept away. A lot of healing and rebuilding needs to be done.

God has been trying to stengthen me by telling the Nehemiah's stories on how he built the wall of Jerusalem despite so much obstacles, obstructions, interruptions, destructions & all sorts of negative forces going against the construction of the wall, however Nehemiah did not let anything stop him from building the wall.

Nehemiah 6:15-16 says "So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in fifty-two days. When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God."

The question now is how can we be more like Nehemiah?

A Short Blog

Feeling really unmotivated to blog recently, dun know y again.

Seen so many long blogs which gave Jon added pressure.

Anyway will do a short one today so Jon can have more time "questioning" God...

Why Jon is feeling this way is very simple, someone made a silly comment but it pierces into Jon's heart...

Though the beginning of bible says God creates Heaven and Earth, Adam and Eve, and the rest... it doesn't tell us what is the BEGINNING anyway. Here are the silly questions:

1. If God creates Heaven and Earth, what else did He create before that?
2. What is ACTUAL BEGINNING?
3. How did God appear?
4. Who created God then?
5. Holy Trinity? God, His Son & The Holy Spirit. Who created what and which comes first?
6. Did God create the universe? Then is there also another Adam & Eve on other planets?
7. Are the other planets also having the similar history of Abraham, Noah, Moses, King David, King Soloman, Jesus & Paul stories?
8. Will there be another Jon in another planet then?
9. Is anyone blogging the same topic at the other planets as well?
10. Back to bottomline, who is the creator of the beginning? Next crunch question, how did it all happen then?
11. Who create the the Creator?
12 Creator first or Beginning first?

ok enough of all the nonsense... I feel so sinful right now. I might have caused a lot of believers to lost faith now. Time to do my QT and hopefully The Holy Spirit will reveal the answers to me...

Problems About Blogging

Dun know why, Jon has got a bad feeling blogging recently...

Questions that popped up in his mind are as follows:

1. Would anyone mis-interprete the post wrongly?
2. Is there someone not suppose to see the blog, looking at it?
2. Did anyone get offended reading the blog?
3. Some strangers putting some stupid comments?
4. No comment on the post?
5. Posts too shallow minded?
6. Posts too intellectual?
7. Posts driving people crazy?
8. Stupid posts?
9. Psycho downloading your's photo for their own "leisure"?
10. Strangers recognising you on the street?
11. Comments in your friend's blog get rebuked offendsively and you could not do anything about it?
12. Comments in your friends blog ended up offending his/her friends?
13. You end up answering/replying to some morons out there who just dun understand what you trying to say.
14. You end up talking to yourself every night.
15. You end up replying to your own posts every night.
16. You jumped off the building for nothing to post.

ok enough for now... its driving me near my window... Sweet dreams.

Posting For A Date?

Last few days seem to be a very busy period in the bloggersphere as many bloggers are trying to post for a date, or to find out who has won a date, or checking out on their “Post-A-Date” comments/replies…

Anyway, all these buzz is making blogging interesting for Jon as Jon was blog-hopping around and was “wowed” by many babes and hunks in-the-net. Indeed there are plenty of “Hot People” out there. From our very own Pris the Princess, to Sandralicious & MOB, to even that sexy babe (Ms M&M) whom Merv is dating, WOW… Jon feels so blessed to be a blogger! In fact, Jon’s life is full of blessings, see further to find out why:

At work, Jon is constantly facing with different talents & models of different races.

In Bloggersphere, Jon has been “surrounded” with the in-the-net babes. Need Jon mention names anymore? Check out SarongPartyGirl (mentioned in Bro Merv site) and you know why… “Gulp!!”

In Church, everyone Jon sees is beautiful! And what Jon means is this; everyone you see in church is not just beautiful on the surface, but each one has a beautiful heart too!

Now with so many “beautiful” choices surrounding our life, why do people still need to “Post a date?”

Stunned by the question?

Let Jon helps you.

Why do you want to restrict your own choice by selecting only from the limited applicants who have nothing better to do but to “sell” their own self to you?

Let Jon asks you, “Who is it that you really want to go out for a date?” Having answered this question, isn’t it easier for you to be able to focus on that “Special One” then to be convinced by people’s “sales pitch”?

Thinking back all those who posted for a date. Isn’t it a waste of time or its just an act of publicity of “HOW POPULAR AM I?”

Perhaps… Good night folks!

SUPER CHURCH CAMP!

The best camp of Jon's life! Hail the Lord!

Jon has just returned home this afternoon after 4 days (since Thursday) of super empowering by the God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Here's some of the highlights of what has happened over the last 4 days as Jon would refresh and summarise into writings in future entries:

1. Business Breakthough - As Pastor PN has envisioned business owners as future "spinal" support for church movements, Jon responded empathically with 2 alter calls.

2. Spiritual Breakthrough - Jon has spiritual bread for 4 days consecutively and is currently super charged with God's spirit! In fact Jon has been practising "prophesying" during this camp and God has been faithful to use his mouth to encourage others as well. May God continue to empower Jon further.

3. Personal Breakthough - 4 days of personal relationship with the CG enabled Jon to build on a different level of fellowship together. In fact, the CG had a FANTASTIC indepth sharing this afternoon that enabled great spiritual bonding within the CG and Jon is excited to see how God continues to use the CG for Greater use.

May God's power be glorified until the end of age! Amen.

The Art Of Durian Selection

Jon wanted to write this post since last Sunday but was too busy to do so. It was inspired by a group of church friends whom Jon met when he first attended Hope Church. They are all from Sarah’s group.

Jon met Sarah and George (both house-mates staying at Kembangan) at the Somerset MRT on Sunday evening and we decided to go for dinner near their house. It was soon followed by more of their CG friends, Tiancai, Nicholas & Sandra. During the dinner Nicholas was telling us how much he and Sandra loved durians and he started to teach us how to choose delicious durian. We were all excited over what Nicholas shared and started craving for durians as well. Soon we headed to Geylang area and started our “practical lesson” on choosing the right durians and of course eating our “picks”! =)

In fact it was a very memorable night for Jon as it was a very long time since he enjoyed himself so “openly”. We had durians & lychees and so much fun. Jon would like to take this opportunity to share with everyone the “trade” of selecting good durians. There are only 5 steps in the selection process and they are:

1. Shape of the durians. => Normally experts choose durians with a certain arc at the bottom of the durian.
2. Cracks on the durians. => We won’t know how long the cracks are there, as the “taste & smell” would have “evaporated” over time.
3. Weight of the durian relative to its size. => This step needs practices. Too light means the flesh are too dry. Too heavy means the seed are too big, hence flesh are little…
4. Shaking of durian. => This step is to confirm if the flesh of the seeds in the durian is tender enough or not. If the flesh is too watery, the seeds would have stuck on the surface of the shell inside. If you feel that the seeds are shaking too much inside, tendency is that the flesh are too dry.
5. Smell. => Smelling is the last part of the steps to make sure that the durian “smell” fresh. If not, it means that the durian has been “harvested” for too long. The area to smell the durian is at the base of it.

So here are the 5 basic steps to selecting of good durians. Hope you guys can have lots of fun too!

Jon's Prayer Requests

2 more days to church camp, Jon has been praying every day to God for breakthroughs!

Here’s Jon’s Prayers Requests in the areas that Jon hopes to achieve breakthroughs.

Spiritually
1. Gifting Of Tongues => Though Jon was Holy Spirit baptized, Jon still feels that he needs to receive further breakthrough in order to be able to communicate with God in a way that can “connect” with Him.
2. Gifting in Interpretation Of Tongues => Even though it was written in the bible that there is someone would “interpret” tongues, Jon feels that he wants to be able to interpret what God put in his mouth when he “speaks in tongue”.
3. Gifting in Prophecy => Some people are able to receive revelations and thus he “prophesies”, but Jon feels that God is able to use him in “prophesying” through words that He put into Jon’s mouth while he “speaks in tongues”.

Personally
1. Jon likes to pray for his entire family’s salvation. (His dad, mum, elder brother (Jason), elder sister-in-law (Sally), younger brother (Tony) & younger sister-in-law (Christine).
2. Jon’s relatives
3. Jon’s business partner (Seowliang)
4. Jon’s Army buddies (Ah Ho, Chee Teck, Ah Sim & Seowliang GF-Elaine)
5. Jon’s business associates. (Just Jesters & Just Media)
6. Jon’s models (Too many to name…)

Business
1. Jon is praying for Reina’s wisdom in work and in Christ
2. To find working partners within 2005
3. To double sales by 2005
4. To have stable enquiries from large Ad Agencies each month
5. To open a branch overseas in 2005
6. To make Jon’s business an “Entry Vehicle” for overseas outreach.
7. To become a living testimony for Christ in the marketplace.

Many times while Jon is praying for the people around him, Jon always feel a burden to share “Spiritual Words” to them for encouragement. However due to his lack of bible knowledge, many times his heart is willing to share, but the mouth is “unfruitful”. It is until Jon comes across 1 Corinthians 14:13 which says, “For this reason anyone who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret what he says.”, that Jon feels God can help him achieve his little “vision.”

Should anyone who is reading this blog share his heart with Jon, Jon would like to ask a big, big favor that you may intercede for him in your future prayers. May Jon be able to receive his “Spiritual Breakthroughs” ASAP so that he may start to “empower” the people around him.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit while you pray. Amen.

BREAKTHROUGHS!!!

It is almost 1 full week since Jon posted his last entry. It is not that Jon is becoming lazy, but it is because Jon has been extremely busy lately… Believe it or not, since Jon started doing his “Lunch Fasting” 12 days ago, Jon has been abounded by all sorts of miracles and blessings from God.

It all started last Tuesday since the “Lunch Prayer Meet” when God’s hands lay upon us during our Lunch Prayer, Jon managed to hit his May’s Sales Target with a $5,000 project out-of-nowhere that very last minute of the very last day of May! Even until today, Jon still could not figure out how that client managed to find out about Jon’s company, not to mention how he awarded this project to Jon so “easily” (without bargain and doubts… simply pure trust!). In fact, from getting the enquiry, closing of the deal, planning to coordinating of the project, God's hands has never left Jon...

Since that day, sales has been pouring in every single day, even until TODAY! In fact Jon is currently experiencing what Simon Peter did when he first met Jesus by the Lake of Gennesaret. If you obey by His words, you will be blessed so much that “the net began to break”… Before June, Jon was still very worried on how to meet his June's Sales Target especially that the church camp is coming and the company would have to stop operation for 4 days during this month. Now, less than 1 week into June, Jon has already hit his June’s Sales Target!!! Praise the Lord!

Looking at how Jon’s spiritual life struggled few weeks back to now having spiritual breakthroughs, there is only 1 verse in the bible that best explains Jon’s current situation.

Deuteronomy 30: 9-10 (New King James Version)
9 The LORD your God will make you abundantly prosperous in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your cattle, and in the fruit of your ground; for the LORD will again take delight in prospering you, as he took delight in your fathers, 10 if you obey the voice of the LORD your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

What Jon learned is that as long as we turn back to God, God's hands will be upon us. Not only Jon has experienced spiritual growth since decided to turn to God earnestly for spiritual breakthrough, God has also provided breakthroughs in Jon’s business!

Who is Jon to deserve such grace? It is only through Christ Jesus that a sinner could enjoy a new “Birth”

May all praises be to the God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Our Waiting Time

It seems a lot of Jon’s Brothers & Sisters in Christ are experiencing many mixed feelings over the last few weeks. Jon initially started to share his “spiritual hiccups” and is surprised to know that Jon is actually not alone.

Guess it is not uncommon to see Christian’s life fluctuates over time. Just to take a leaf of Sis Pris’s testimony last Friday: “As long as the overall fluctuation is moving upwards, we are fine.” Now this statement seems very logical!

In fact, Jon has a burden for his Brothers & Sisters in Christ so let Jon brings all of you closer to find out what God has in stored for His heavenly children:

Most people, including Jon, experienced ups and downs in life. We had a lot of low moments and worse we might have even fall into terrible depressions before. However one should always bear in mind that our God is full of Compassion and we must believe that God will never be through with us. We must always be convicted that our “LIFE PRISON” was part of God’s vision for our life; To Him what we had gone through was called “WAITING TIME”.

What is Waiting Time?

Remember Nehemiah? He had to wait 4 months before he got a chance to speak to King Artaxerxes. Can you imagine if you have a burden for 4 months? It is like been locked in a “prison cell” for 4 months alone. Most people would plunge into deep depression… but not Nehemiah. He used the “Waiting Time” preparing for God’s vision. Eventually when the opportunity struck, Nehemiah knew exactly what to do… The rest you already know.

To God, there can be difficult time. Painful time. Frustrating time. But not wasted time. Waiting Time is not wasted time for anyone in whose heart God has placed a vision.

Brothers & Sisters, God has you where He wants you. He is the master strategist. We are an important component in His strategy. He is the head. We are members of the body. He is in control. We are to surrender to that control. That’s where God can use our circumstances to position and prepare us to accomplish His vision for our life!

Remember, Waiting Time will not be wasted time!!! God is at the center of it all!

Amen.

(Waiting Time is an abstract taken from Visioneering (By Andy Stanley) which Jon is reading now.)

Church Camp is coming, Jon wants to challenge his Brothers & Sisters in Christ not to waste the next 2 weeks time doing nothing. It is time to start preparing... Take the next 2 weeks as the "Waiting Time" to prepare for the "Breakthrough" that God has in stored for you. If you fail to plan in God's vision, then you plan to fail in fulfilling His vision.

What Faith Means To Us?

Just as Jon was inspired by the Nigerian bro (Obina) last Sun, Jon would love to extend his awe to you, readers…

From Obina:

There were three Americans from YWAM (Youth With A Mission) who shared their testimonies on how God brought them to Nigeria for evangelistic mission. The 3 Americans were given a vision to go to Nigeria for evangelistic missions. Fyi, due to some political reasons, Nigerians has always faced with problems getting visas to United States and vice versa. Hence when the 3 Americans received this calling, they knew they were facing uphill task ahead, not to mention about their financial woes of getting the money for the air tickets to Nigeria as they were only, well, youth…

Knowing that it was a vision from God, they kept faith and went to apply for visas. True enough, they received their visas without any problem. What made it so miraculous was that it only took them a couple of weeks for the approval while people had spent months waiting but nothing happened… It was an affirmation by God for them to go ahead as per their vision.

However, the true test came as neither 3 of them had the money to buy the air tickets from US to Nigeria. So what they did is to pray earnestly to God for His intervention again… without knowing how. To show their commitment to God’s vision, they booked the air tickets to Nigeria in 3 weeks time, praying at the same time that some how the financial support would come. But neither of them knew what was going to happen. What they did is simply committing themselves to prayers.

As the days went by, nothing happened. Finally the day of departure arrived. There was still no sign of anyone coming forward with the financial support to help. They were worried and gathered to pray desperately. As they prayed, God gave them Words to go ahead as planned. Without any clue, they packed their luggages and headed to the airport.

They reached the airport on time and waited at the departure lobby hoping for a miracle. However as the time drew nearer to departure time, there was still no sign of anyone coming forward to offer them any money to pay for the tickets that they booked. Nothing much they could do but to continue praying for God’s miracle. 10 mins to the departure time, no signs of anything. 6pm - departure time, still no news. 5 mins passed departure time, nothing happened. All the while as they were waiting, they were constantly in prayers… just as they were about to give up hope, there was a special announcement made from the airport’s PA system asking for anyone who were supposed to head for Nigeria but had not board the plane yet. From that moment they knew God was calling out to them, hence they rushed to the counter as directed by the PA system…

Though they were unsure where they could find the money to buy the air tickets, they simply hurried there to find out more about the announcement made. To their astonishment, the counter staff told them that a cab driver just came minutes earlier, passed 3 air tickets to her as instructed by someone that there were 3 people waiting for these tickets to go to Nigeria, and left. And what made it so special was that the flight was also been delayed for half an hour for some reasons that allowed them to check in after the departure time. Without further hesitation they boarded the plane to Nigeria!

Now that was FAITH for you as almost all the people in YWAM (Youth With A MISSION) had experienced God’s grace on them as they kept faith in Him.

Now, how many of us would do such “absurd” things? Like most people, I would at least expect God to “provide” me with the money first or “planned ahead” before replying “YES” to God… What a shame…

SUPER WEEKEND!

What a wonderful weekend it has been!

For those who are not aware, Jon has started his “Lunch Fasting” since Thursday as an act of devotion to our God and Father of Lord Jesus Christ before the actual church camp in mid June to prepare my heart for SPIRITUAL BREAKTHROUGH! Never did I realize that the moment I take this leap of faith, God is also quick to declare His love for me as well.

FRIDAY
Had a unit gathering instead of the usual CG. Was very glad to see a dear sister, Priscilla sharing testimony on how she was invited to serve God via the CG more earnestly. It was wonderful to see how INK’s CG grew spiritually as I still remembered during one of our lunch prayer meet, we were praying for God’s hands on them. Though the testimony was a little draggy, but it was really cool as she spoke from her usual self and that counts! Brought a little memory of myself when I was sharing my own testimony… Yes, there was something I am missing now… The little “spark” in Christ seems dimmer now as I took my eyes away from the LIGHT…

Anyway, the video clip on Hope Johannesburg also inspired me. The kind of passion from those African’s eyes was the exact tonic to generate the spark in me. Yes, it really brought me back onto the spiritual pedal as I realized that there were still many things undone yet… If the Africans could serve God without having anything, what about us living in such a comfort zone with so much luxury things around us… It’s really a shame that most Christian in Singapore even grumbled that they are not “READY” to serve God yet…

Saturday
Great day of rest as I woke up at 10am, took my breakfast, watched TV and got back to bed again until 4pm… Wonderful! It’s been a while I could be LAZY for a day as normally I have football game on Sat afternoons. Was woken up by SG actually as we supposed to meet up at East Coast for blading… Woohooo! It’s been a long while since I have bladed… Anyway, the actual term for blading is called Inline Skating, folks! Met up Karen and SG at around 5pm and started skating from Mac to Fort Rd, then to Mac for a break, then to Bedok Jetty and back to Mac for dinner…

However I wasn’t realized that God is so faithful as what supposed to be a casual skating session became a very nourishing spiritual session as we discussed a lot of spiritual stuffs along the journey that were very fruitful. In fact the break at Mac was unusually long one as we went into some in-depth discussions on church, CG, people relationships and life… I knew from my heart that this was another Divine Arrangement that God pre-planned as Karen and SG “enlightened” me on couple of things which were dwelling in me a while ago… well I guess you guys would know what it was if you have been following my blog.

After skating, we also had a very long dinner as we continued our spiritual discussions and it really impressed me to see how far SG has come along spiritually as he shared about his knowledge on the history of “Jerusalem” – as we hit the topic on the movie “Kingdom Of Heaven”. It’s a good show to watch, if you haven’t…

Well, end my day on a high note as I spent the rest of my night with God to follow through on the spiritual high I had… Thank God, I am now very focus on what I’m looking for during this Church Camp (Have you?). Dear God, please continue to crystallize my vision on you!

SUNDAY
What a great service yet again. Topic: Commitment To The Local Church

Needless to say much, I just felt that God is again at the Centre Of My Life, as He knew exactly what I was going through. Just when my faith was wavering over all the things around me, in church and in CG, this sermon specifically talked about how important everyone is to CG and then to the Church. In fact, we had a CG Pledge and the sermon managed to touch on almost everything I wished to know. I really hoped that everyone listening would be re-charged into serving God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ again.

However it wasn’t the end on my spiritual “replenishment” yet. I met up Elaine (our UL), Doreen (a German friend) and Obina (a Nigerian friend) for dinner this evening. Obina (hope I spelled correctly) is a member from YWAM ( Youth With A Mission – A Missionary Organization which send people out for missionary training) and he is here in Singapore for a few months training on missionary. This guy, only 20, speaks fluent English and he inspired me inside out through his several powerful testimonies about FAITH… Oh God! What a timely intervention by your Mighty Hands as I felt my faltering faith REBORNED again!

To sum it all, “If there is any problem in life, its not a problem after all in God’s eyes.” Your job is simply do according to His calling and then leave your eyes open to see how God unfolds His plans to you.

Amen!

The things that make me go "HUH!?"

As promised, this post will be talking about what had happened the past couple of weeks that makes me go “HUH!?” For those who are a new believer in Christ, I suggest you click on “NEXT BLOG” button at the top right side of the page now.

It all started after the re-shuffling of the CGs and I was transferred to a totally stranger group. My heart was full of enthusiasm as I couldn’t wait to meet my new Bro/Sis in Christ, but my mind knew that there would be a period of transition, and I was unsure how long this period would last. All I could do was to pray… and true enough I was left all ALONE praying to God everyday!

Here’s the list that I had been through over the past weeks:

1. As the saying goes, “… but teach a man how to fish and he can fish for life…” I was left all alone to “fish” in a totally new environment.

2. I lost my spiritual leaders in Joel and Karen and was allocated a new shepherd, who dun know me, my past, my present, my work, my life & my dreams.

3. I went into a new CG who dun knows me, my past, my present, my work, my life & my dreams.

4. For many weeks, I attended Sun services and Fri CG alone and went home alone.

5. For many weeks, I operated alone as my new shepherd was busy; in fact as I am writing now, we have not met for shepherding yet…

6. I was left with “self growth” and Satan was smiling at me everyday, telling me that the world is beautiful.

7. I started to blog in order to release part of my stress into Internet.

8. I saw one of my Bro M’s blog (U know who… haha), and saw the “other” side of him.

9. As I am in advertising… my life was embraced with temptations, desires & sins…

10. My mind was constantly been attacked & my soul was draining… as I tried hard to stand firm in Christ… alone.

11. Words of God had to be interpreted by my own understanding as I found no one sharing and to confide in…

12. I looked at my previous CG where people were enjoying each other’s company each week, and each week I was left pondering who would be my next “buddy” in Christ.

13. I saw matured Christians sharing jokes more than sharing Christ…

14. I saw matured Christians looking drained.

15. I saw matured Christians not behaving like one.

16. I saw matured Christian with less convictions and passion.

17. Outreach outings went “nowhere” as people were more concerned about themselves.

18. I felt church system sux, as I became the “victim of system” as I was trapped into a “lonely spiritual world”.

19. I tried to get near people from other CG, and was given a “Why aren’t you with your CG?” stares…

20. I started small chats with people and ended with short chats.

Ok, ok… 20 pointers are more than enough to make you say “HUH!?” right? Before everyone start panicking over me, dun worry. Like I said, everything had been sorted out now…

Everything in life happened for a reason, and God has it all planned out. Like I said in my previous post, "God is using your circumstances to position and prepare you to accomplish His vision for your life."

For those who were going through any one of the above or all the above, please do not hesitate to contact me for a chat. My heart is convicted to write this post so that you know you are not alone in Christ.

Do not worry, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:39 Await the day our Lord reveals all the answers to your doubts…

Amen.

second post of the day

My second post of the day. Nway, the previous post was for yesterday happening. So here is today's happening.

This evening had a wonderful time with my CL, Chris, over dinner. It was a timely dinner by God's arrangement as I was going through a "questioning period" over my new CG & the church. Mind you, no one knew what I am going through except God and this evening I managed to see why some things happened and also I was able to get some answers I need, Praise The Lord!

I will be doing a lot of meditation tonight for further directions from God then... ok, time for QT... Will share with you guys more in my next post!

Before I leave, I felt convicted to share with those reading this blog now:
"God is using your circumstances to position and prepare you to accomplish His vision for your life."

May you be empowered! Amen.

FTP AGAIN!

Yesterday was another miserable night with the ftp download again. Someone recommended me “CuteDownload” as this time round I needed to download 2 x 20MB files from my UK supplier. It turned out to be “Sux-Big-Time-Download”. Messed around with downloading the program alone took me the whole night, managed to try downloading the first file for almost 1 hour before the ftp went “bizarre”. The ftp folder suddenly went missing??? The folder became empty. WHATSUP?! It was already past 12am… My client needed those files first thing next morning.

Called up my UK supplier at our 12 plus am, which to them was around 4 plus pm. My UK counterpart suggested to email the 2 x 20MB files to me!? Out of “Desperation”, I obliged. Half an hour later, he called to tell me the emails bounced back! “…#@*%…”

Lastly he decided to give me via the old link that I managed to download a file the other day. It took me slightly more than 1 hour per file. What I did – slept through that 1 hour while leaving the laptop to download the first file. Set alarm clock to wake up again at around 3 am for the second file. And lastly managed to wait up again (dun noe y?) at 6 plus to off my “overworked but no OT” laptop! Juz too bad!

Anyone got a better idea to download 20MB files via ftp?

FTP Problem

I’m gettting helpless and frustrated. I’m stuck in the office for the past 2 hours, downloading a 10MB file from my London counterpart - via ftp. As I download, the window says 1 hour 38 min… In fact I dun mind waiting, but since 2 hours ago, the timer has been stopping at 1 hour 15 mins… Wassup???!!!

Someone HELP! Arggg… >=S (fuming!)

Fine, shall start blogging while waiting… It’s been 4 days since my last entry… All I have in mind is… Busy, busy & busy - with work… BUT looking at my files, there are only 2 deals from this month??? Ops! Have been working 12 hours a day, but the financial rewards seems to speak otherwise… Hiaz…

Guess that’s the cost of running a business… its like Rabbit-Tortoise race. Whoever has the patience + steady steps, the business will eventually take off one day… We shall see… Anyway gonna trust God for it right; if there is no business, it means no income for me and then I can’t tithe men… ha ha! =p

However today was a very good day. Heard a few people giving good comments on our works so far. I guess this is the beginning of great things to come. Just hope that we have the stamina to last until the great things unfolds… Well, only then I can talk about EVANGELISM! God, you heard me? Yes, I’m planning to build your Kingdom when the business takes off! Leaving all this in your hands, Lord! Amen

Great news! Just when I finished saying “Amen”, God gave me the wisdom to abort the download and seek help from Just Media colleague. They have powerful desktop. Eden, a graphic person, helped me with the download as I emailed the link over. He is staying over tonight as they are rushing on some works. Guess what? The timer indicated 41 mins only! After a while it became 20 mins and as I am writing now, the download has come to 12 mins and still counting down! Thank God! I’m going home soon.

Amen x3 !!!

A Timely Answer Indeed

Just when I woke up feeling guilty going to church this morning, I was in for a good surprise. If you have read about my ending of my last entry on “Boozes & Boobs versus Bread & Bible”, I was praying for “Self-Control” and I was also worried about the high price that Christians will be paying to follow Christ. This morning, God again answered me again at the timing only He knows best! Perhaps I shall just summarize what the sermon is and you digest it yourself…

Topic: Living Life On The Edge
Bible Verse: John 12:24
“I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains a seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.”

Jon says: A short but powerful verse. Following Christ is actually a journey of slowly dropping off your old habits one by one and picking up the new “Life” bit by bit until your life is totally transformed… It is a very long and difficult process, as you have to give up many wonderful things in life that we used to be doing but was not “right” in God’s eyes… Though what is “Right” & “Wrong” are subjective individually, so it is essential that we study the Word of God, or in short The Holy Bible, understand it, and put it into practice. It is something that everyone of us struggle to do, but knowing that God is faithful and real in shaping our lives, most of us were compelled and encourage to follow what He wants us to do…

To explain John 12:24, Pastor Ben actually preached it into 2 parts this morning:

1. Following Christ means dying to SELF. (verse 24-a)

In short the process of dying to SELF is actually very well demonstrated by our Lord, Jesus Christ. Been crucified, buried & resurrected; in this case, “crucifying” our old habits, “burying” them and been “resurrected” with a new life. 3 simple steps indeed, BUT just how many of us are willing to do that? Like I mentioned in my earlier entry, how many people are willing to exchange “Boozes & Boobs” for “Bread & Bible”? Jesus has also mentioned this in Luke 9:23 “… If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”

Maybe you are asking what are the things to be “crucified” now, well Jesus’ answer to you can be found in Colossians 3:5 “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly things: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.” In fact, it really takes more than courage, my friend! With our today’s society, our cultures have all been “re-shaped” by the world, especially - the media! What do you think how most people feel when TV serials like “Sex & the City” and “Desperate Housewives” are among the all time favorite lists!?

2. Death Of SELF brings FRUITFULNESS. (verse 24-b)

Jesus has said in Mathew 10:39 “Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” Perhaps many of us had hear people saying that they have tried finding God but to no avail…or perhaps you are the one saying that… so now ask yourself what have you done during the process of seeking God? Especially those who were from “Catholic” / “Christian” schools from young, who claimed to know Jesus and had read the bible many times but still do not know God personally, its time to reflect again…

Frankly speaking, during this 11 months journey of seeking Christ, I must admit that there were a lot of things I am still trying to “crucify”, however looking back what I was, I guess I have done whatever I could from my own capacity… True enough we will stumble and fall at times, but the experience of God been there to guide you and lift you up from that “pit-hole” is something that re-assured me that He is there… Just like your lifetime “lover”, been with you when you are most vulnerable, dropping encouragements whenever you require them and revealing His power to give you the confidence you need in life. I guess most of us had relationships before and should understand what I am saying. Well… ending my note, all I have to say is “Lord, you have overwhelmed me!”

Amen!

“Boozes & Boobs” versus “Bread & Bible”

This morning (Sat morning) I woke up feeling like the most sinful person in church. Like Paul was compelled to share the gospels with the people during the early church planting days, I am now compelled to share with you the dark truth about today’s fallen world and the challenges that all of us (especially Christ Followers) will be facing. And the most freaking thing when I recall back is that God actually put me through this experience on Friday, 13th! (Guess you must be thinking what the hell had happened to me right? Read on…)

To those not in media industry, last Friday was actually FHM’s party and the announcement of the top 100 sexist woman was on the agenda! Just like how “sex” could stir up interest, my media friends had also made plans for this event. As their friend and “supplier” in the media business, I was compelled to go. Anyway after God has empowered me over the last 11 months, what can still “tempt” me right? Since God is with me, whom shall I fear?

However it didn’t take me long to realize that we were just another vulnerable being whether God is with you or not.

As expected, the event started off with a “bang” as 7 top female Eurasians models walked out of the stage in skimpy sexy lingerie. One by one each model paraded down the runway flaunting their assets with cheers from every corner in that all too familiar Zouk’s dance floor. Yes, I was one of them with my eyes sticking to every of their movements. Wolf whistles were everywhere and up there the models were all professionals and posed to the beats… Over at our table, we were toasting each other with every sexy pose made… without realizing much, I had downed 4 glasses of Ginger Ales and another 4 Johnny Walker with coke!

For those not in media, these are the things that keeps people coming back for media functions… eye catching shows, music, free flow of alcohol and women!!! As for gals, there will be gorgeous men as well…

Indeed it was a SWELLING function. We were treated with the countdown of Top 100 sexist woman from around the world, there were sexy runway models entertaining us in intervals with lingerie, bikinis and translucent sexy casual wear with nothing underneath… Guys were left gasping the air as disco lights shone onto the models’ body revealing their contours. Air con needs to be on the MAX to bring down the heat, tissues were in demand as most guys ended up with bleeding noses and the drinks just couldn’t stop filling up our table. Before the function ended, I felt my temperature on boiling point as my whole face heated up! I realized that I was on a high as I could sense that I was no longer standing but floating… Everyone seemed friendlier and we were talking more openly…

One thing about group outing is this: its either you “get” into the same level of “soberness” or go home… it is also to “talk” in the same frequency with them or shut up… As a “supplier” in the media industry, I guess the answer was very clear to you now.

I was actually the first person to reach that “high” level as I was drinking with an empty stomach. To a point I had to rush to toilet and gulped tap water to bring my “high” down. It was still all right for me as I was already used to drinking in the past, so I knew how to keep myself in the “safety” level. However it was the “PR” that made me felt way too “sinful”… In order to communicate with media people, I had to “speak” their language… Without long, I was back to my “old” self-swearing savvy media guy. Chats during this kind of function never moved away from women… Yes, like I said, it was a night purely based on boozes and boobs! Suddenly, I was behaving like a typical media guy… drinking and talking like a pro in the game.

I hit the cab at 3am in the morning with the smell of Johnny Walker lingering in my mouth. I was feeling so “high” that I could swallow an elephant. My mind was filled with images of sexy models and I recounted I probably sweared dozens of “F@#K” from my mouth… It was a night that I had left GOD at home… yes; it was a night that I was a SINNER! Just like Matthew 26:41 says – “Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

I managed to cook a bowl of Maggie mee when I reached home. It was the only time after a long night that I could face my Lord finally. I managed to remember to give thanks for the bowl of Maggie mee before I swallowed it up. My prayers when giving thanks was this: To wash all sinful deeds from my mouth into my digestive system. To replenish my stinking soul and mind & to refresh myself with the Holy Spirit which I had left home…

This morning I laid on my bed and began to wonder… What can we do, as Christ Followers, to bring all these people (whom I met in Zouk) to God? With all the temptations, I realized that we were facing an uphill task in spreading the gospels. The price is high for a lot of people: To exchange Boozes and Boobs for Bread and Bible. Who says being a Christian is easy? The price of being one is high. That’s the challenge that is facing the non-believers right down. It’s also something that our youth will be facing in the future as they choose between “being alive and kicking” and “to be buried and resurrected in Christ”.

As for myself, I know that I have to face with all this again in the future. It is my job and it is just part and parcel to “PR” in life… Jesus had mentioned before in Mathew 10:16 – “I am sending you out like sheep among the wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.” I just have to keep praying to God that I am able to practice Self Control in future functions. I hope it will be like what 1 Corinthians 10:13 says – “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”

How Blessed! (Sat-Mon)

My sleep was interrupted by a call on early Sat morning (8am); it was the Regional Group Director of a regional advertising company. We had earlier confirmed a talent for a shoot on yesterday but their photographer could not make it last minute. Hence she asked if I could help?

Praise the Lord, I was just talking to Reina on Friday to see if any miracle can happen to let us handle the shoot and here I was receiving this call directly from the Regional Group Director. I told her that I could help and we arranged to meet later that afternoon 3pm.

It was still way too early before my soccer game at 11am hence I decided to go breakfast with my mum! Yes, take it as early “Mother’s Day” treat… he he, since I knew I have to work on Sun… =)

Had a bruising soccer match later that morning, ending with swollen legs on both my legs but didn’t really felt the pain at all, perhaps my mind was all set on the meeting later with the “major” client. I hurried to the office half an hour earlier to set up our meeting room, prepared all the glasses for water and also “invested” on some pastries from Delifrance to impress my client… he he… like I always said, we are in “Show Biz”!

Finally the clients arrived, total 5 of them… 1 of them was the End-Client from a well-known skin care company. In fact the meeting was “To-The-Point” as they simply briefed me on what they needed… actually it surprised my as none of them had requested to see our photography portfolios. That showed how desperate they were and how much they trusted 1 of their staff for introducing our company to them… (Yes the staff is one of a friend)

After listening to the brief, I knew we could do it, and I accepted the job confidently. What amazed me the most was how direct the Regional Group Director went about doing her business as she simply told me how much the client was willing to pay. Probably this wa the budget that they had already set aside for the other photographer who could not carry out this assignment. Luckily for us, that photographer was a well-known one; hence the budget given to us was GOOD… Thank God, it was a “GIFT”!

I knew there would be a very long taxing day ahead. From the time the meeting ended, I had to work out formal quotations, planning of shoot & last minute briefing to my Photographer-Simon. Both he and myself were equally surprised in the way we got this job… We knew from that moment it was another opportunity from God. In fact the last job that we did is equally surprising and we found out that the End-Client turned out to be a family of Catholics. This time round, the Regional Group Director was a Christian who attended church regularly. In fact, she was also a volunteer to teach Sunday school for the kids in her church… That spelled something about God’s planning right?

SUNDAY – SHOOT DAY

We knew the curtain needed to be raise on Sunday. In fact, the night before we had done some setup in the studio at Selegie Road to make it “presentable”. We had our discussion and all of us knew exactly what our own roles were: To run a great SHOW tomorrow!

It was wet Sunday. We knew there would be tough rides later, however we kept faith as we knew God was with us. We met early at 7.30am for breakfast and final discussion. True enough, the clients arrived late, so did the makeup artist, hair stylist and the models… The actual shoot eventually commenced an hour later than expected.

When the first shot was out, we knew it would be a long hard day. The model was not experienced… (3 out of the 4 models were “street-casted” by the client himself, while the last one was from our side) All the concepts we were shooting were very lifestyles and full of expressions… The model started off a little nervous and “stone”. We had to spend a while loosening up the first male model and luckily after a little while, we got the shot needed to move on. 2 more shots from him later, which turned out to be easier as we managed to get him into the right mood. next male model was Noah, our model. We had not much problem with him as we already worked with him before. In fact, 2 hours were enough to settle his part and he was the earliest to leave.

The third and fourth models were female. The first one was more versatile and we got the shot rather smoothly. That moved us to the last female model. It was 3.30pm; 1 last model, 2 more shots with her and a couple of product shots to go. We had a short break to freshen things up before the final finale. However we were greeted with waves of nightmares...

We got the first shot with little trouble, but the last shot killed us… We needed her to “Groove with the music” – meaning we needed a dance pose. And true enough she could not dance… not to mention dancing alone in front of the entire crew of around 10 people! We tried to get as many people out of the studio, leaving Simon, myself, the client and my assistance in the studio with her, but no matter how we tried, she simply could not dance to the way we want her to… Simply put: SHE COULD NOT DANCE!

Very soon, the place became a little messy as everyone tried to help by giving her ideas, which turned out adding more stress. We spent the next 2 hours “toying” her to no avail. In the end, we gave up the dancing moves, and tried to make her "pose" something “Groovy” instead. As the situation was already a little disorder, the female model also got distracted by all the different suggestions as well. As for me, after drying up my reservoir of brain juice for 8 hours… I was already almost “Brain Dead” into the mess as well. As the client was very particular on human expressions, most of the shots & proposals that we did for her were all rejected… I was very drained indeed. All I could do was mumble desperate prayers for God’s to intervene.

Luckily enough, after many shots & rejects, the client finally came out with a pose that he liked and we did some test shots which eventually turned out pretty well. We knew that was it and spent the next half an hour triggering as many shots as possible on that pose. Finally we got 1 shot out of many hundreds that fitted the bill. Case close!

It was around 8pm… we quickly moved on with the product shoots and eventually wrapped up everything around 10 plus pm… it was more than 12 hours of work... Reached home around 12 plus and slept liked a log around 1 plus.

This morning, I had to dragged my feet to work. However all my tiredness evaporated after I received plenty affirmations and compliments from the clients... =) I managed to speak to the Regional Group Director and found out that it was also through God that she allowed us to handle the assignment… She told me that I was the first person she called after the rejection from the initial photographer. After speaking over the phone and realizing that I could help, she knew that she could leave this to God, and allow FAITH to take over. And yes, it was God who set up this divine arrangement. I can not stop thanking God. He is simply AWESOME and FAITHFUL! How could I ever repay our Lord and Savior? How Blessed!

Amen.

Birthday "Ang Pau" From Our Kind Government

Guess the only thing I feel good about the whole damn national service thingy is after NS. Though we have to do reservist every year, we have a chance to get “bonus” from the people who tax us over our lives!

Finally I realized the trick of taking advantage of the New IPPT “Birthday” windows. I did my last IPPT on the last 2 days of my birthday. Good news is I passed and got $100 for Bronze. Bad news is I blew away $100 by 6 seconds. Yes, 6 bloody seconds.

The timing for silver is 11 min 20 sec, I managed 11 min 26 sec… 6 secs for $100, I didn’t know my time could be so expensive! Haha… whoever wants to ask me for coffee next time think twice… can u afford my time? =p

I was thinking of doing the re-test the next day on the 28th of April, last day before my birthday on 29th, but realized my full body is aching… so there goes my $100. Just as I was feeling shit… I realized that I can get back additional $200 from the Government again! I was told to go back the following week after my birthday to clear the IPPT test for the “new” window. Great! It means if I am able to get silver this time, I am able to get $100 + $200 within this 2 weeks!

That means I will be $300 richer! My birthday “Ang Pau” from our kind Government! Come think about it, the money is just enough to earn back the fees I have paid to attend the church camp in June! Thank God. Now it just seems like the church calendars really evolve around my life yet again! Haha.

Ok, this week will start training my muscles and jogging to get back my shape! Anyone is keen to do jogging with me? ;p

Feng Shui Horse Posted by Hello

Feng Shui Horse & Clay

This morning woke up, saw my mum sitting in the living room polishing a bronze horse figurine that my dad bought last week. According to her, she said that it will bring us good fortune in everything… Chinese has a saying called “Ma(3) Dao(4) Gong(1) Cheng(2)… meaning the horse will deliver you success… I whispered: “What rubbish was that?”

I was a little puzzled… is there really something called Feng Shui Horse? In human terms, “polishing” a horse is like giving a man “facial wash” or “spa”… today if I see some guys doing these, I would say “Yucks! So sissy!” Imagine now you are polishing a horse… a sissy horse! Can a sissy horse bring success? When we talk about horses, I imagine those wild horses running across the grassland. Wild horses normally give people a feeling that they are “macho” and “powerful”. Think back how ancient people fight wars on horse’s back! Those horses dun need to be groomed but they brought victories to the generals. If horses need to be “groomed”, then they are only good for display… So now my mum is polishing the bronze horse hoping for good fortune? Yeah right!

Next, I would like to know who is the one claiming that there are “Feng Shui Horses”? Today someone might say a bronze horse is good for fortune, but another day the same person can say a gold horse is better. When he is in good mood, he might like a jade horse, but if you ask him the same question during his dad’s funeral, then he will tell you “TO HELL THE HORSES!” So why do people still believing in human’s words???

I remembered few weeks back, my parents were discussing on the topic of worshipping idols in our new home next year, they asked my elder brother if we are going to bring the existing idols from our home to the new one but my elder brother says he prefers “Guan Ying”. I thought to myself, “Wassup with these people? Today they are worshipping some kinds of idols of their choices? Then what God is this? A God that is under the selection of man… and people are worshipping their whole lives on it? I said they are just a piece of clay!” In fact people are still worshipping idols. I tell you the truth, a “Guan Ying” might look like the one in your home from one potter’s hands, but it can look another form in another potter’s hands. In the end, people are worshipping different types of “Guan Ying”… so it is the potter who shapes the idols... Then let me ask, “How powerful are these clays which are shaped by humans' hands... Isn't it that we need God to shape our life instead? So human are supposed to shape their own God to shape theirs?" Complicated? Well, they are just clays...

Lastly, I really can’t stand my parents keeps burning incenses for those idols… Wassup men? Are those idols dependent on the incenses? If they are then how can you still depend on those pieces of clays? How much do people know about the idols when they worship them all their lives? If these idols are real, then why aren’t the Westerners, Europeans or the Aussies ever heard about them? If these idols are so real, then why are we not celebrating about any memorial occasions worldwide?

Try asking around what does 911 means to you, and probably 10 out of 10 would tell you it’s the most dramatic tragedy that the world has witnessed… Why we know? Because we all saw on TV that 2 planes crashed at the top of the WTC that came tumbling down. It has been a fact and people will remember it for their LIFES! Try asking around your friends when did the Japanese invade Singapore and probably people who studied history will tell you it’s in 1942… It is a FACT. Today every one of us witnessed the death of Pope John Paul II and many people knows how great he is… Why? Because we saw on TV how Millions of people from all around the world came together and gave their condolences. In this new era, we have the benefits of watching every major events unfolding on TV and we believed that these things indeed happened…

Well, we said, “Seeing is Believing.” Then I ask you why 2000 years ago, when there is no TV, no HP, no Internet, yet everyone in those days seems to know who Jesus is? It has also been agreed that He has indeed died on the cross and has been resurrected 3 days later that we now celebrate Easther Day that the whole world is celebrating as a public holiday. If Jesus is not a true Son of God, then why is Christmas an official public holiday that everyone on earth is celebrating now? If during those times, the facts of Jesus can stand scrutiny until now, what does it say to us then?

Lets reflect then, why do people still believe that a piece of clay can change their life? I share with you a truth. My life has changed, not through clay, but through the death of the one and only Son of God, Jesus. I have seen my whole transformation from Buddhist who went to temple every week to meditate on some scriptures to now a faithful Christ Follower…. I know now I am really been saved, thank God!

Does God speak to us?

Does God really speak to us? I am unable to answer this question 10 months ago, but it seems to me very clear now that God is always just right there trying to talk to you… if you pay enough attention.

From the moment that I decided to let Elaine and the Joel’s CG to pray for me during my first visit to their bible discussion meeting 10 months ago, God has been talking to me on every issues in my life. From finding my business partners, making key decisions to my whole spiritual walk (from inviting Jesus into my life, taking the holy communion, water baptism, holy spirit baptism, speaking in tongues, giving tithes, giving to church building fund, praying for Reina’s salvation) God has been there speaking to me.

It is really amazing because everything seems to be evolving around me. Getting the right encouragement by church friends at the right time, prayers answered at the right time to listening to the right sermons at the right time, it just seems that the church is built specially for me… Or I have to say that God is waiting for the right time to introduce me to His church so that I can receive the timely blessings from Him?!

It happened again this morning. I supposed to play half of a soccer game at 7.30 am before rushing for church service at 9.00 am but I ended up playing the full game instead as we did not have any spare players. The game finished at 9.15am and I thought, “Sh*t! I am late!” My teammates were asking me if I wanted to join them for breakfast later and there I was contemplating to take a slow bath, enjoy my breakfast then attend the 11am service instead. However I decided to rush down to church, even if I would miss the Praise & Worship. Hence I went in for a quick shower and immediately took a cab down to Cuppage Plaza.

The time I reached Cuppage Plaza was 10am. It was very late as I thought the sermon should be on the way by now. However to my surprise, as I walked into church, I realised that they just finished with the Holy Communion! I still have time to walked down to sit together with my Care Group, “give” to God, greet my friends, listen to announcements and last but not least listen to the sermon. “God, are you waiting for me to start this sermon?” I asked myself…

The sermon for the day: Building Churches… Last week, I just finished and was very inspired by the book written about our Founder, Dr Kriengsak, The Apostle Of Hope… God, are you talking to me again? Then my next question to You, “How can I be ready, my Lord?”

As I stop typing, I hear the song “Call upon the name of the Lord, and he says…” – a worship song by Hillsong called “Here I Am To Worship”

An hour a Day, keeps the Evils away

An Hour a Day, keeps the Evils away.

Our God is good, no doubt about it. I have been doing an hour of quiet time each day for 2 weeks now and the changes I felt in my life is awesome! I can sense the Holy Spirit is with me in everything I do. That gives me faith and strength to do whatever I deemed fit as I know that the road have been paved ahead of me… Dear bro/sis, are you facing some forms of setback recently? Its time to get back that “loving feeling” with God!

In fact this month is a wonderful month as I sensed all sorts of graces that God granted me and I also experienced miracles that sprang up into my face. Besides graces, my vision is also much clearer as my mind becomes sensitive towards what is laid ahead of me. My life is full of plans and directions as I can feel that Im each step closer to His glory! Oh God, all I have is only 1 simple goal in this life; that is if your servant is pleasing in your eyes, please allow me to become your living testimony in this fallen world.

All I pray is that you take my body and soul and replenish me each day with your spirit so that I may live a righteous way that pleases you. I wish that my life can encourage my brothers and sisters in their spiritual walk, can bring another life back “Home” and provides a living testimony for those who doubted you. Until the day that you feel I have done enough, Im ready to head “Home” to be with you.

Nothing in this world can deny my faith in you, Lord. May I be your worthy servant!

Amen.

Hand In Hand With God

Back to my journal… what should I write? I asked for some feedbacks in my last post, but all I had was a reply by Claire who answered me with regards to some technical issues on setting up my template, which I couldn’t figure out anyway.

Heck! Forget about all the links and site meter, these journals are meant for myself and those “called” into this page. If everything is planned by God, then there must be a reason why you are in here reading this right? Since you are here, let me share the most profound secret that I recently encountered. Hand in hand with God. Sounds ridiculous? Read on!

I used to challenge my Christian friends over my last 28 years (ok, I only started to talk when I was one-year-old and only knew God when I first watched Ne Zha fighting with Er Lang Sheng!) if there is a God, then show me how God looks like. Many times, they were pissed off by my comments and decided to leave me alone. Now that I’m saved by Jesus, I have been asking Him to reveal himself to me, not just Words and Scriptures, but more intimately…

It was last Wednesday, 13th of April, I was back home around 10 plus pm. After reading Apostle Of Hope, I was so inspired by our Founder that he normally spent 2 hours doing quiet time with God everyday (1 hour in the morning 5am and 1 hour before sleep). The most captivating moments was his first encounter with God and the Holy Spirit when he went back to his hostel while studying in Australia late one night after celebrating his campus mate birthday, he fell to the ground and started to speak in tongues and wept. Although I had been Holy Spirit baptized, I’m always very amazed about such sudden encounter, as if God suddenly wanted to “communicate” with you out of the blue.

That night, there was only one thing in my mind that was to start doing 1-hour quiet time with God each day, before following the example set by our Founder, which is doing 2 hours each day. I had brought back my laptop so that I could play my Hillsongs in my room and I could fully indulge myself to Christ, My Saviour. As usual, I did my praise and worship (a soft one though as my parents and my brother were sleeping in the other rooms) and prayers in words and tongues. As I opened my eyes, it was only half an hour… probably it was due to a long day work, I got really tired seating on my bed, hence decided to lie back onto my bed and listened to the worship songs instead.

“This is also quiet time right?” I thought. I even spread out my hands on my bed as if I was opening up to God. As I lay on my bed enjoying the soothing music, I cheekily asked God to fill me up with the Holy Spirit so that I could last for the next half an hour in case I fell asleep. It was this cheekiness that I would never forget as I encountered the power of Holy Spirit! I felt some wind tickling down my fingertips. Though I knew the aircon was blowing directly at me, I sensed that it was a different type of feeling. It was as if someone was holding onto your fingers. I knew it was the Holy Spirit coming upon me, because this was the kind of feeling I encountered when I was worshipping in church during Sunday services. I felt joy flooding into my body and soul, even though I was feeling very tired…
Overwhelmed by this feeling, I prayed to God that He squeezed me tightly to give me an assurance that the room was filled with the Holy Spirit and true enough, I felt someone holding onto my hand. It was really awesome! I knew God was with me that night! Feeling overjoyed, I wanted to worship Him, my Savior. I prayed to God again that this time round He lifted both my hands up so that I could worship Him. The next moment, I felt my hands were both lifted slightly, next to my hand and eventually my whole arms were lifted towards the ceiling!

Oh my God, nothing could deny this experience. I could really feel the physical touch of the Holy Spirit! Both my hands raised in the air as if someone was pulling from the ceiling. I felt energized and joy flooding into my whole body. Joyful tears flowed out of my eyes, rolling now into the back of my head. I was empowered by God, no doubt about that!

For several minutes, my hands were hanging in the air without feeling numb or tired. The worship songs were so beautiful and the experience was certainly divine! If you think that I had enough, then you are totally wrong. Hungry for more, I requested for a last prayer; that was to ask the Holy Spirit to lift my body up from lying position into sitting. It sounded like I was asking for too much as I recalled Jesus saying in Mathew 4:7 “…Do not put the Lord your God to the test.” “Am I crazy?” I thought.

What happened the next moment was the most shocking experienced that I ever encountered in my life! I felt something was lifting my head… then to my neck… next to my shoulder… and my back… until I was completely sat up, with my 2 hands rising towards the ceiling! Hallelujah! This was the ultimate experience in my life! I knew for sure that these experiences were not from my own strength as I was dead tired after a long day of work.

There I was sitting on my bed, hands raised, mouth rattling in tongues, enjoying the intimate experience that God had granted me! It was as if I was lifted into heaven. There I was experiencing the grace and touch of God, communicating in a divine setting. I immediately prayed for everything that I could pray for: my family salvation, my business partners salvation, the church, my CG, Joel’s CG, Irving’s CG, Elaine’s unit, David’s unit, Tuesday prayer meet, Reina’s spiritual growth, my business and everything that just came into mind! I knew this was the moment I should never miss praying for. I thank God for this encounter as I felt “reborned” again…

Dear friends, this I called experiencing God “Hand-In-Hand”. If anyone of you still doubted God, then my best heartfelt advise is to ask you to invite Jesus into your life now and start to pray in your own words (with Faith), that you confess your sins and allow Jesus to be your savior and your Father in your life. Trust me, you will have your own personal encounter with God! I hereby give my prayers who are reading this right now!

May God be with you. In Jesus name, Amen.

Closer To God

I am currently reading a book by the name of “The Apostle Of Hope” – The Dr Kriengsak Story, by Carolyn Boyd. In fact this book is about the life of Dr Kriengsak, our Hope Founder. It is an incredible story of a Buddhist convert who has planted over 100 churches in just a few years and is pasturing the largest and fastest growing church in a most Gospel – resistant region (Thailand). The concepts and principles revealed can be applied in our lives, in fact in the world! A MUST READ!

As I read, I manage to learn a lot of things from Dr Kriengsak, especially his passion and faith towards the living God. Currently I’m practicing to build a really intimate relationship with God, His Son and The Holy Spirit by doing at least an hour of quiet time each day. (Dr Kriendsak did 1 hour in the early morning and 1 hour before sleep… I can only do it before sleep coz still struggling to wake up… ;p)

Since I started my first quiet time, I encountered tremendous experience with The Holy Spirit and I hope there are more great experiences to come. In fact my mind are so much clearer on my vision now and I am prompted to write a couple of topics on my life experiences which probably can help some people reading this blog…

Well, maybe before I start my “marathon” journals, I will just list out the topics I hope to cover and you guys decide for me which one come first:

1. Hand-In-Hand with The Holy Spirit
2. My vision on building the God’s Kingdom
3. European Outreach
4. Let’s talk about SEX
5. How God answered my prayers

Ok for now. Time to sleep, but stay tune to this blog for my journals… I'm praying for the Spirit to put what's in my mind into black and white...

Good night friends, may God speak to you in your dreams too!

Amen.

My Monday...

Its Mon morning… so lethargic today. Had a very bad sleep, that old aircon is giving off a cracking sound… a bad dream… woken up by some evil spirits… prayed upon the lord’s prayer… could not sleep… check out teletext… back to sleep and next moment, woken up by the alarm! A Mon greeted by all the SH*T!!!

Back to work! Prayed over breakfast… so expecting some good news in office. Ok, some clients replied, might have future opportunities... Reina, came up with a visual over the weekend, not too bad… but not what I want! RE-DO! But realized after that it’s not wise to propose to client… haizzz

Follow up on a long overdue (120 days) payment… threatened to post a lawyer letter… 10 mins later, cheque ready… now I know what to do in the future! But caught in the rain on the way there. What a SH*T client… low budget… few jobs… long payment… out of place location… attitude staff… and now bad weather!!! Wassup??!!

That partner came again, dressed in black polo-t and a black pants. I know its another bad news on this “black mon”. “ Is this the best quote?” he asked in his typical stuck up accent with eyes staring at you like a hungry fox… “ Yeah, of course. We are still taking a risk for this quote.” I hesistantly replied. “I only asked 1 time and I ask again, so is this the best quote?” he repeated slowly and in a more sternly manner. “Yeap. Its my best quote.” I confidently replied. Upon hearing this, “The other side quoted cheaper…” he turned and walked away.

Wassup!?? Is this the way you treat your biz partner? He didn’t even compare apple to apple! Does he really want to work with me on this one? Should at least sit down and tell me what is expected from me right??? Taking me as another damn supplier??? Should I still pray for his salvation? God d@mn it… ok, ok, its a test of faith… For you only Lord, for you alone I serve and obey!

The laptop is singing “Shout To The Lord”….

New SH*T On The Blog

Opening of New SH*T On The Blog

This place is created through an inspiration from my Bro Merv who had some SH*TTY friendships recently. Well, I guess everyone got their SH*TTY stories to tell, and I have mine too! So let's block out those SH*Tsss in here!

MY FIRST SH*T

A friend asked me recently "Are you willing to die for me"? As a staunch believer of Christ who was saved from my own grave 10 months ago, I told him YES! Well if we believe that everything that we have belong to God, then what is life to us right?

This friend is a "business partner" who shares the same office space with me (Ops, you roughly know who by now!). We are occupying the same office space because our business compliments each other. He is providing advertising services and mine-imaging services. So as a new setup, I trust him as a provider to my business, in turn giving him my full support. This partnership is wonderful as we have worked well for a few projects. His clients had tight budgets and I was hungry for jobs... so everybody benefitted!

Things beginning to change recently as they took on more high profile jobs... One day, he came to me saying, "Jon, we have this big project and we cannot screwed it up. So we are asking 1 professional to handle it."

??? "What the F**K!!?", this was the first thing that came to me. I realised that the trust and integrity that we talked about were just pieces of SH*T! Hey didn't relationships strengthen through thick and thin? Didn't love flourish through hardships? Didn't BROTHERHOOD survive through extreme conditions? Didn't SYNERYGY evolved through numerous spining?

I was totally blown off by his comment... I'm struggling now. I have "preached" the WORD of loving your enemy. I have "shared" the WORD that when someone slapped you on the left, we showed our right to him... I have prayed about forgiving all your debtors so that ours sins can be forgiven... Now here I am facing this piece of SH*T... I need GOD's guidance to the EXTREME! I'm experiencing the same situations our forefathers faced when they were persecuted by people they preached to... I suddenly see Jesus on the cross breathing his last breathe and said, "Eloi, Eloi, (Father, Father) please forgive them..." I realised that my trouble is just a breeze in life...

Ok ok, enough of the holy words. Friends, I realised that whatever relationships out there are just plain SH*T! If anyone's life is not evolved around GOD, they are living a life of their own philosophies, theories, believes, rights and wrongs. They are like dangerous animals who pounce on their preys when hunger strike, then claimed "Thanks bro, your sacrifice has saved me". Their words are their truth as Black becomes White...

So dear Bro/Sis, spend your time wisely building relationships for ETERNITY. Bring those animals to GOD so that they can too be saved... A broken glass can be stick back together but the cracks will always be there forever. However that same LOVE that held Jesus on the cross is the element to ensure the cracks do not leak anymore; so that the glass can be reused for its potential.

May you find the real TRUTH!

The Day My Life Changed!

There was a time when I used to make fun of my Christian friends worshipping a pathetic, helpless man who was pinned on a cross. I always mocked at this crazy bunch of people who had nothing better to do than to wake up every Sunday morning for church "jamming"... Worse still, church people seemed like "money suckers" to me as they always asked people to contribute money. I remembered been told by a friend who visited a "West Bound" church and the people there expect everyone to "tithe" even if you are visitors!!! Wassup???

However, May 2004, I was at the lowest point in my life. Having seen my dreams of promotion being broken after my previous company was bought over, I resigned. It was a period of hardship as I witnessed people backstabbing each other, friends betraying me and even girlfriend abandoning me for someone more stable. To sum it all, I was left with nothing... no career, no money and no honey. All I had in me were grievances and disappointments in life.

However, I was very fortunate to know Karen - who was actually my client from my previous company. She knew how excited I was when talking about the chance of getting promoted. During this period of darkness, I got to meet some wonderful friends whom Karen introduced to me. It was really a blessing as God has given me a group of people whom I now call my Brothers and Sisters in Heaven!

I have Mr Mel Gibson to thank for the movie, “Passion of Christ.” I watched it last Easter (2004) and was really moved as I saw how Jesus suffered during the last 24 hours of His life. I finally realized the reason why Jesus died. It caused me to do some soul searching; to deal with guilt and shame in my life. If this is really a true account of what had happened in history, then I better find out more about it... Karen then passed me this book called, "Case For Christ." It was a book that really answered my doubts and changed my unresponsive heart. I started reading the Bible... which changed my life.

As I read the bible, I began to see miraculous events happening in my life. I knew they were not concidental. Hence I made a decision to enter into a relationship with Christ. Since then I was totally "blown away" by the grace of GOD!

Let me share about the business I started last year. It began with my first visit to Care Group. At the end of the Bible discussion, Elaine, my unit leader offered to pray for me. I was hesitant at first, but finally decided to open up my heart to GOD. I simply asked for smooth planning over the next few weeks and the whole group prayed for me. The next day when I was at Hello! shop collecting my phone, I happened to share with Reina who is the staff serving me that day about my new setup (an all-round imaging hub providing digital imaging, photography and talent services) and to my astonishment, she told me that she was an digital imaging (DI) artist before?! Hesitantly believing her, I told her to meet up again and gave her some assignment to see her capabilities. Right now she is my DI artist playing a pivotal role in my business.

Besides Reina, God also gave me a wonderful Photographer! I remembered checking out his website and the first thing I saw was Genesis 1:3 "And God said, let there be light and there was light." Was that YOU- the ALMIGHTY GOD talking to me? Not surprisingly his company name is called Lighthouse Images.

I could not imagine someone so disappointed in life with only $20 in the bank to be able see all this happen! Prayers have been answered, people coming forward to help me, words of wisdom from God, etc. In Jeremiah 29:11-14 God says, "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come to pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you…"

After so much Jesus has done, there is no way for me to "repay" Him than to commit my life to serve in His Kingdom. I love all of you who is reading this now, hence I urge you to take a step of faith in Christ because God first loved us...

God Blesses,
Jon

Intro to my life

April 1976 - May 2004. 1.7m, dark brown eyes, 60KG. Seasonal hair depending on mood. Used to be the guy on the street. Eat, sleep, work, play, getting laid. Vulgarity used to be my slag. Try to look BAD, but hated smokers and drugs... heading nowhere afterall.

Relationships like a breeze, when its cool everything's romantic. When it's hot, get's sizzling. When its still, find a better place.

Career: 8-5... draggy.
Pay: $1000 odd... boring.
Woman: 32b... tiny.
Life: Looking for pussy.
Religion: Buying 4D.
Education: Diploma... Good for dustbin.
Philosophy: Take things easy.

In the end, no career, no prospects, no aim, no goal, no fun, no luck, no strength, no mood, no money, no honey, no help, no pity, no skills, no vision, no life... Life? Wassup?!!!
